Maybe this isn't for you hon. I don't mean to ever tell a young person not to try but you're crying over an extra-curricular. Is this really worth the stress? I wish I could tell you that they're unreasonable but Drill Teams and Marching Bands rely on perfect percision and they have little room for error, it's high pressure stuff. If you can't rise above your anxiety and meet them face to face it's going to be hell for you. Maybe take the weekend and put some thought into how important this is for you. If you can find something else for your college application let it go. If you really need to be in Marching Band keep pushing yourself. Sooner or later you'll toughen up.

Oh my dear
I was the same exact way in school and even after.
One day I was at work and one of my bosses was calling my name and I didnt hear her and she was trying to tell me to do something I was already doing, by the time I walked over and Got it done she said my name really loud and said come here please. Well when I walked over she ranted about how she called me and called me why didnt I answer , I told her I didnt hear her ect....... Well the supervisor was there that day over all the resturants and he was listening right next to us. She told me what she wanted to tell me and that she could see I already done it but to stay on top of it ect..........I was so upset because everyone else was sitting in the back taking a break while I was busting it. Anyway she went on and on and started saying stuff like I am not going anywhere so you had better get used to me telling you what to do, I had never said a word until then, Then I stayed calm and started telling her, well it makes no difference to me if I stay or go because I do my job and I do it well and the ones you should be chewing on are the ones in the back sitting on their behinds while im working myself to death........the supervisor was nodding his head in agreement with me. She saw this and let it go , I WAS SO PROUD OF HOW I HANDLED IT AND TRIED AND TRIED TO FIGHT IT BUT...............
THEY CAME ANYWAY I HAD TO RUN TO THE BATHROOM AND GET MYSELF TOGETHER CUZ TEARS WERE FLOODING MY FACE...........I hate confrontation and still do, But I have grown out of most of it. It takes time. The most important thing I did was pray and ask God to take the STING out of unkind words for me. I pray you are blessed

Marching band is sort of like the military - they're trying to get in your face so you remember not to mess up; if they get out of line or personal, go to the Band director.

Just remember kids r cruel...work with the adults and practice your routine so that they have no reason to yell at you, another thing to try is be bold and stand up for yourself...tell them that yelling at you will not help you to remember your routine, but showing you how would be more effective. And if you cry, that is o.k. too, it may show them that you are sincerly trying and that it does hurt you to have them treat you that way. Bottom line is you do not have to put up with abuse yelling and swearing is just that, teach them how you want to be treated! good luck.
