Yes you will get an apple tree, however apples never come true from seed so the fruit might not taste very good at all. Trees grown from seed are called pippins and are often good for little other than cider. Sometimes you get lucky, find a new variety and can propogate it from cuttings.

The simple answer is yes, but.......
The 'yes' is because you can plant an apple tree seed and there is probably a 30% chance of it germinating and growing to full size. That means if you plant 10 apple seeds you are likely to get around 3 which grow. You can select the healthiest of the three and let it grow to full size.
The 'but...' is that you will have to wait for 6 to years to find out if it will produce edible apples - the chance of it producing an edible apple is about 5%. The chance of it being even remotely a tasty edible apple is very, very small. It certainly will not resemble the apple from which the pip came. This is because modern apple trees are a cross between two or more varieties. Further, you will not know which apple tree pollinated the one you have. Why not try it,just for fun!!

Apples grown from seed will have alot of genetic variation. They will have some characteristics of the parent plant, but also characteristics of the pollen source. Apples grown in a nursery are grafted or budded onto a rootstock, making the top of the tree whatever cultivar the bud source is from. It's the rootstalk that determines winter hardiness. The more dwarf the tree, the less hardy.

Probably not, unless your apple has ripened on the tree. Supermarket fruit is picked green before the seed gets a chance to fully mature.

I would soak them in water overnight, preferably with a little bit of plant food in it (just a tiny bit). Then, I would plant them outside in a small area where you can remember where you planted them. Leave them outside over the winter, and in the spring some should come up. I would save up quite a few of them though, to improve your chances!
