I'm not sure if he's the most overrated player in history, but he's certainly one of the most overrated players in the premiership at the moment.
Stevie Gerrard, for example, makes Lampard look really ordinary (as a Liverpool fan I'm bound to say that...). Looking at the charity shield match, Momo Sissoko gave Lampard, Ballack, et al a midfield lesson, but then he does that to anyone. Anyway, yeah, Lampard is definitely overrated.

You seriously need your head checking, Lampard ain't that over rated!! What about David Beckham?! He is over- rated too much his good looks have made him a celebrity instead of a football star (being recognised for talent like Gerrard). All he was good at was doing free kicks!
What about Theo Walcott? He was said to be 'the best young striker in history' please! Has he beaten Micheal Owen's record yet? What about those legendary footballers!
Then there's the temper tantrum Wayne Rooney always over rated too what did he do for us in the World Cup this year? Nothing Peter Crouch did a better job, Aaron Lennon and Owen Hargreaves. Before the cup started all we heard was 'Rooney broken foot'.
So if you want to talk about over rated players just keep watching sport news if they keep banging on about a particular footballer and you don't think they're that good, chances are they are over rated.
Sorry if I sound rude but I don't think he is that over rated. He is a good midfielder but Gerrard is better.

No, I think Quauctemoc Blanco can take that place. Mexicans still think he is the best thing since sliced bread and he's never had world class quality. Lampard is very talented but he's going through a funk, that's for sure.

Most players are over-rated including 'lamps'. I'd go with either Henry or Ronaldinho nowadays. None of those 3 should in the current top 10, I said this before the World Cup and it still stands!

I only watched the WC and saw Lampard play, what a complete waste of space, how could a man paid thousands a week miss a penalty?

He could be the most "overrated" player considering he can't hit the net and he is supposedly a "great" player. Then again most soccer players are unskilled considering the lack of shots on net nowadays. Soccer is at an all-time low skill-wise. Pop in a Liverpool '80s DVD, if you doubt that comment.

could be, I think frankie is quality, there's no question he has risen to be a great midfield player, world class when he's on form, the world cup has dented a few peoples views on him, saying this, there can be a bit too much hype surrounding him, time will tell
