I'm from Canada and we have very relaxed laws towards Marijuana. I see no reason why some amounts should be legal. Maybe like 10 or 15 grams could be considered personal and when caught with that much you would only receive a fine and not a criminal record. I know that the laws in the USA are much more strict and the citizens for the most part frown upon drug use. Where as in Canada we smoke pot like it was a cigarette and no body cares. There are way to many people waiting trial for silly Marijuana charges. For crying out loud, it is a plant as old as the earth and still grows wild on half the planet.

it should be OK to people 18+, old enough to go yo war then old enough to smOKe a bowl, I say. It's ok in moderation, I do about a gram a day only at night, no different than a couple of beers, and it leaves me intelligent enough to know I should not get behind the wheel I make sure all my chores are done driving wise before I light up (I'm 34),It's a nice little buzz with no hang over.I go medicinal for my chemo, better than any medicine out there , I just told my doctor and she had no problem with it. So if a doctor says it's cool what more can I say? I have a vaporizer , they sell them on eBay so I don't inhale smoke, so don't give me that argument people.
The only reason it is a gateway drug is because you have to buy it from scummy drug dealers who would rather get you hooked on a physically addictive drug with a much higher profit margin," hey kid while your here, here's your dime bag and try this free crack, if you like it come back and I'll sell ya some more"
This would not happen if it was legal

Yes it should be legal, that alone would help this country alot, tax it and require a license to sell like alchole and tabacco MAJOR money for the government there, not to mention they would save money and man hours as far as the police and jails go. That would also create a LARGE job market and with the economy the way it is now we need every job we can get from growing to shipping and distribution, fertilization the whole process would make jobs in way more areas than you can think of. The crime rate would drop because you wouldnt have people getting shot or robbed over weed when they can go to the gas station and pick up a bag. you can also use the hemp and oil by products for thousands of things

yeah marijuana should definitely be legalized. am an avid weedsmoker and i work in a customer service job. it does not in any way affect my personal life nor my job. And its true, people do see marijuana as being this horrible addicting drug that ruins lives, and thats just not the case. Yes there are people that are irresponsible and spend all their money on it, and abuse it so much to the point where they become really stupid, but you can say that about alot of things, gambling, shopping, ect.... So you do have to be responsible about it. The bottom line is that those who oppose weed know absolutely nothing about what effects it has on themselves. And if they did try it they would see that its just this little insignificant thing that helps make life better.
Weed opens up your mind, your way of thinking, it inspires you to see things in a way that you would never see before. Its unfortunate that it will never be legalized.

Totally.
It's not nearly as harmful to your body as Alcohol. It doesn't cause liver damage. If anything, it's as harmful to you as smoking cigarettes. It's not as addictive as Alcohol or tobacco, which are both already legal. It does cause impairment, but if used the same way that Alcohol is intended to be used legally, then it should pose as much or less of a risk than Alcohol.
I just think the gov't won't legalize becuse they aren't sure if they can properly tax it since it's often better when grown at home. They also have difficulty telling if it's in your system if they pull you over. That isn't really a valid argument because alcohol was legalized way before they had brethalizers and before detection was something they needed to do.

First of all, when a person's habits infringe on my own health (ever heard of "second hand smoke"?), then there's a problem. Many like to confuse "free will" with "freedom", which are far from the equivalent of each other.
Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC), that active ingredient in marijuana, is the only health-beneficial chemical in marijuana, and even in an average joint, less that 0.6% of cannabis is saturated in this health beneficial chemical, and when burned, that concentration becomes less.
THC is already available in pill-form and sold in pharmacies nationwide (with a prescription of course), so in reality, there is no reason for "medicinal marijuana" when marijuana's only health benefit is now sold in the form a pill.
Referring to these "ancestors" of ours who apparently smokes marijuana: it's evident that you don't know what you're talking about. Hemp was used for ropes years ago, but that's it.
Just because something is a plant doesn't mean you should smoke it. Ricinus communis (or the Castor beans) is a plant, but I dare you to smoke that.
So no, don't legalize it. Those of you potheads on here need to get a clue.

We spend billions a year trying to keep it out of the states. That money could be better spent elsewhere. Between it and Bio-diesel our farmers would be put back to work. Just like prohibition, take the criminals out of the equation.
It could fall under the same driving and possession laws as alcohol. The problem is that every time it comes up for a vote, some senator throws cocaine on the bill or other items that guarantee it to fail.

Marijuana should be legal in the USA. Then the government could control it and tax the crap out of it! The medicinal advantages far out weigh the hazards and risks. I rarely smoke, maybe once a year, for personal reasons... It is just not something that I am in to... Marijuana is not for me... There are many different types of marijuana that will provide the user with different results. One good way to experiment with marijuana is to go to a place like Amsterdam, Netherlands. There you will find coffee shops with menus of the different types of marijuana and what the various types will do for you. I believe that people everywhere should be free to do what ever they want as long as they are not hurting anyone or infringing upon the basic rights of other around them...

i dont think it would do any harm. its not like coke or anything and you have to smoke 7 times your body weight to overdose. And before that point WAYYY before that point, your body would shut down and you would pass out. All weed does now is make me tired, I dont even feel the high. I dont see a problem with making weed legal, it does have risks just like ciggarettes. But what the hell is the difference?

Of course pot should be legal. They should license growers who could be free to breed as they saw fit. The govt. would pay based on THC quantity and would charge accordingly. License pot or liquor stores could then sell.
Lots of tax money and lots of competition. Prices go down, employment goes up. Win win.
Also lots of law enforcement types with nothing to do so maybe they start going out and getting the bad guys.
Yea, it should be legal.
