i've looked at the MY Q&A page a hundred times. maybe i'm just blind but i can't find any link or buttong that will allow me to extend my question

you click on the button on the far right under your question, i think it looks like a pencil, it should be under that when the list pops down...

go to the actual question and around where u can add details, just click on extend question
