you have to start with the company profile, the history, the products, the services, do a marketing sheet- the sales reports, the product forecast, the market segment, the target market, the product's position in the market, the customer's profile, next do the accounting aspect, this will include the balance sheet and income statement for the previous quarter and wrap things up with bullet statements on how the investors can benefit from your company.

Office manager's mainly perform administrative functions. What you boss wants seems like something someone with an MBA should be doing. If you have an MBA, you should know this stuff. If you are not an MBA and you a regular office manager with regular office manager responsibilities then I agree that your boss is using you.

You can get the information you need on writing a business plan from small business admin website.

You want to make the company look enticing. Be sure to include the history of the company major accomplishments, financial reports that show the companies growth,a mission statement and forecast of where the company is going over the next 5 Years. Keep it professional, you don't want it to look like a package for a kids party. Also try to have a very professional Cover letter/Statement from the President or CEO stating why they believe in this company.

He is giving you the polite good bye knowing in advance you are a girl not of his family. Now if you want to progress in life enhancement you can put together this portfolio detailing your gifts as a partner, your enhancements to your particular agency or business, and detailing without giving away ethically what you want from his business and why, being polite and blemished in a sensitive way, so you can be pro if you want and keep it to yourself. If you are not planing to go to California you must not put it there neither mention to him, it is not advised nor ethical to some extent concerning females, no offence, it relies on method, and the portfolio does quite say a lot about the working conditions you are about to have, this too is not comendable to be given. Be brief and take care of other aspects more important to your esteem and he will have no true complaints about you, only be careful to show your comitment and support, without opening to harassment. If you attempt to show your image of the company it might not be useful or required. Bye.

Speak to your boss, find out what he wants covered in the portfolio, include all the data that investors require - business plan (projections on profitability and growth, ROI, T/O, funding etc) product marketing, market demograhics, sales forecast, overheads etc.

If you've totally forgotten, you really must speak to your boss, if you mess this up you will be jobless.

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is a great place to start for creating an investment plan for a business. They will answer all your questions and then some. Good luck!

Try a marketing plan with a business proforma. A very good software for this is Marketing Plan Pro. It will guide you through the process and the end product is excellent.

Well you should hire an outside firm which does this. I also think you should look for a job you can do. This is something you should know without asking for advice here. I am sure your boss would be very impressed if he read your question.

Tell him to do it--thats HIS job! Unless he is going to give you a percentage, he has no right asking you to do that. You're just an office manager! I'm speaking as someone who owns a business..Your boss sounds like a user..He needs to PAY A PROFESSIONAL to do it--or do it himself.
Peace.
