Has anyone ever seen the Japanese film Dark Water? If so, can you please explain what is going on??? I really dont understand the end bit in the lift...

I saw it, and I'm just as confused as you are. I was mad that I wasted cash on that movie.

In the American version the mother, who had sacrificed her life for her daughter, appeared in the elevator to say goodbye to the girl. When the girl went on the elevator, her hair was loose, when she left the elevator, her hair was braided. The mother (as a ghost) braided it for her as she was telling her how much she loved her.
I haven't seen the original Japanese version, yet.

The mother sacrificed her life for her daughters cause the little girl that was a ghost wanted her as her mother.In the elevator the mother braided her daughters her as a ghost and know the daughter can see her mother as a ghost like the mother saw the other little girl,That way she will always be with her

I saw the American version which may be similar. I know in the end the little girl went inside the elevator and came out with her hair braided. i think it was menat to show that her mother was there in the elevator with her and would always love her and be in that place for her.

my man and i went to the movies to see that..about 1 hour into it we left and got our money back....DID NOT LIKE AT ALL
