I would do housecleaning for starters and gradually work my way into just cleaning carpets and rugs... one of my friends has been cleaning homes for the wealthy in our area for decades - she gets between 100.00 to 250.00 depending on the size of their home and difficulty of the stain removal (she has all the professional cleaning products and equipment). The money would certainly get you set up with good equipment and products.

Take that 10K and pay off any credit card debt you may have. That would be a great return on your money (from interest saved). If you're debt free, then I recommend putting all of that money into savings- look into CD's (certificate of deposits) that pay higher interest than regular savings accounts.
As for the business, get some ideas then find a job in the same field so that you can get first hand experience. That experience will help you from throwing away your money. Save more money and keep in mind that most of the time it is easier to work for somebody else than to start and run your own business.
Also, if you won $10K, you'll probably have to pay 40-50% of it in taxes. Don't forget the taxes- that's another issue with running a business.

You can't open a business for only $10,000. You're better off finding a job while spending this money wisely.

depends on the person
make a list of things you are good at
and a list of things that piss you off
see what matches from both lists and get to work!
you should be able to start a business with 500 dollars
put the rest in investments.
good luck!

you CAN start a decent business for 10K if you do all the compliance work yourself and its a service related business, BUT you'll not be able to generate profits to live, so you should prob get a job and put your 10K away.
