If the ex is vindictive the courts and lawyers don't care. My ex pulled the "I feel threaten" to get the police involved so she got me out of my house by filing a restraining order which was a lie. I knew it, the police officer that wrote the report and her lawyer also knew it. Then she got temp physical custody of my only child. The courts fail to assign the GAL for over nine months! I have 9 separate emails to the first lawyer asking the status of the GAL found out by only interviewing the 2nd lawyer that the GAL never heard of my case. Then finally got the GAL report over a year later stating several times I should have more time with my kid. Saw the judge now close to two years and the judge won't even-read the report until trial which is schedule by the end of this year. Now I have to get the GAL to court to read and discuss his findings which is in the report that cost both my ex and myself 6K. Its funny that the courts assign the GAL but won't read the report until trial who is stroking who in this system? People wonder why there are so many kids on milk boxes thei're the problem not the solution.

Good luck, if you signed the birth vertificate you could be stuck for quite a while if not permanently. Assets and debts will be divied up. Divorce is a civil matter and legal aid is usually only for criminal matters.
