I think a snake as a pet is a great idea. They take very little work to take care of. You only need to make sure they are fed 1 time every week or two. And clean their cage every 3 weeks, also make sure their terrarium is set up properly. I reccommend a ball python, corn snake, or king snake for a begginer. Any petstore that sells snakes will be able to give you all the information you need, and answer any questions you have. The initial set-up may be expensive I suggest looking around after you figure out what supplies you will need. Hope I helped! Good Luck!

Well they definitily aren't your fuzzy, cuddly, little lick your face kind of animal, but they are very good for people who don't have a lot of time on their hands. Snakes can go for weeks without eating (depending on what species you get) and they are relatively easy to care for. The only thing I can think of that would keep me away from getting one is the fact that you need a really good snake expert veterinarian to examine her when she is ill. I wouldn't take her to someone that sn't licensed for snakes.

I could never own them because most species need to eat rats or mice. I have pet mice so I can't stand the thought of that. If they could eat something else (pretty sure some do) then they're cool. It just depends on what kind of snake!

We used to have a snake for years, a gopher snake. But we finally let him go next to our trailer. He was relativally easy to take care of, but he didn't do much though.

Snakes are awsome pets.....you just have to make sure you supply the proper environment for them in their tank...otherwise they don't last very long

depends on the snake............i used to have a rainbow boa, and he was the best pet i ever had. i used to take him all over the place............draped around my neck, or he'd hang from the rearview mirror in my car.

i think that snakes are good pets. i have two ball pythons and i love them. so do my kids. they are held everyday and soon i will have little ones crawling around to be held and loved.

I enjoy mine a lot.
Most are pretty carefree. Be sure to shop around some to find one you'll enjoy playing with.

Just remember that it eats LIVE food and it will never be cuddly or lovey. It may respect the fact that you feed it, but really, could you tell.
