You don't mean syndrome, you mean syllables.

But yes, phonetically, they're pretty similar—although technically you should pronounce the "o" in violet, as it is a three-syllable word (vi-o-let). But most people just run the diphthong (i-o) together into one sound (ia), which gives the same pronunciation as in vile or indeed vial.

My sister studied speech therapy and could probably give you a better answer, but she's got far more sense than to waste her time on here. That's how come she got her Master's and I got flunked.
