I'm 30 years old and I haven't gotten my period in about 3 months or so. I know I am not pregnant and I think it is too early for menopause. Does anyone know why this would happen? I am worried. Has anyone experienced anything like this before? I was pretty regular before this started happening. I have an appointment with my doctor next month but in the meantime I could use any information that anyone can give me about this. Thank you!

I'd like to add that I am not on birth control pills, not taking medication/drugs of any kind, no drinking. I had my son when I was 26 and my period returned to normal after I had him.

well there are a couple of things..lack of hormones..under weight, stress..certain types of cysts and infections..i have a friend, but she is albino..she is 33...and she didn't get her period for years at a tI'me, then would get it again regularly....im assuming since you say pregnancy isn't an option, but do you have a good reason for that? That's usually the most logical explanation. I can't tell you for sure what your problem is, but i can't imagine it is to much to worry about..around the age of 28 your cycles get a bit messed up..I've been having problems myself, getting a period twice in the same month, skipping a month..stuff like that..also certain types of medication your on can cause lack of a period.

While secondary amenorrhea is usually not serious, it does warrant investigation. Ovulation abnormalities, diet/nutrition, over-exercising, thyroid disorders, excessive weight gain, PCOS or other reproductive disorder, and a myriad of other conditions can all induce amenorrhea. Talk to your doc next month about possible diagnoses and treatments when you go. Hopefully, you will be one of the many in whom it is not serious and is easily remedied. Good luck.

Those are good answers but here are a couple of other ideas: PCOS and stress...as you can tell the doctor will have to decide but as I have gone months w/o a period(PCOS) and lived to have a kid and have more periods(lucky women) I am guessing you will too...
