I am 8 months pregnant and want to brestfeed. I am conserned because I have not started lactating, or leaking anything. My brests have gotten huge, so I must be producing something! This is my fisrt pregnancy, so I am not exactly sure what to expect. Is everyone just different? Is it normal not to?

Not everyone experiences leaking.
I didn't and I'm still able to nurse my son.
Every pregnant woman automatically will produce milk for the baby, so I don't think you have to worry about it at all.

Hahahha... The first answer.. " You won't start leaking until later in your pregnancy"... any later and you're going to be having that little one..

To answer your question, not all women will leak colostrum during their pregnancy. If your breasts are larger now than they were before, and you don't have any illnesses that would prevent production, you'll be fine when the baby comes.

No one knows what to expect.. even women who have had more than one child.. every pregnancy and every baby experince is different, but you can read books, and ask nurses what to do and they will help you.

There are plenty of nursing resources out there.

You dno't start lactating until after birth. You have colostrum (pre-milk) now, you may have leaked a little and just not knowing it, usually this early it's very small amount, and they just fill up the cracks on your nipples, you dno't see any drips or anything. Best advise, feed the baby soon after he/she was born, and feed him when he is hungry, that's how you establish your milk supply. Also, ask your OB about lactation consultants. Some babies don't latch correctly and they can hurt your breasts so bad. So get the info now, and know where to get help if you need it after birth.

Everyone is different. Not everyone leaks.
If your breasts have gotten larger and feel fuller, then YES, you can breastfeed, with no prblems. The nurses at the hospital will help you with latch-on and position. They will tell you how to clean and care for your breasts also.

Be sure to inform the doctors and nurses that you will be breastfeeding your baby, and not to give your baby a bottle, formula, glucose water, or a pacifier. Glucose water should ONLY be given in the case that your baby has low blood sugar levels. Bottles and pacifiers cause 'nipple confusion' and will cause the baby to not want the breast. So will formula.

Breastfeeding is very important and very rewarding! Good Luck!

Everyone is different. I started to leak colostrum only during the last few weeks of my pregnancy. Some start much earlier and others don't at all until the baby is born. Don't worry you should not have any reason that you cannot breastfeed except for lack of support - that can be solved, contact me if you need any.

right now all youre producing is colostrum its the pre-milk you don't have to leak to know its there because no matter what it is there that will be the milk your baby eats for the first 2-3 days after it is born after that your milk will start coming in trust me! you will feel it it feels like you have a 100 little wires running through your boobs when the milk drops! your boobs aren't necessarily huge because of milk production right now either yes you do have colostrum but you have to think, boobs are fat right? well you gain weight with pregnancy so naturally they're gonna get enormous you won't get the full effect of the boob growth until your milk comes in they are going to get bigger than they are now so brace yourself and make sure you have a nursing bra that has good support you'll need it good luck

normally when your body starts getting in to position for child birth.. the baby drops you lose the mucus plug etc.. that's when you will start leaking.. normally it's a few weeks right before delivery.. it's different with all women .. with me it came in like the week of delivery.. thats when you will start seeing the milk come in .. it's might hurt.. you're breasts might swell and it may hurt bad.. run a hot shower and let the water run over ur cheast can help.. pumping can help also .. it might be a few weeks before it comes in fully but when it dose you will know.. when you are in recovey after you have the baby the nurse can help you with some of the questions you might have or if you are taking child birth classes you can get information there too.. congratz new mommy and good luck

You don't necessarily have to leak. Your breast have gotten huge in preparation for your baby. There's extra blood flowing and your body's making the milk ducts needed to produce milk after the baby's born. The most wonderful thing is your body knows when it needs to lactate so don't worry you'll have milk, well colostrum first, when your baby needs it.

You won't actually be leaking anything until after the birth. Somehow the body knows what to do when. It's a wonderful experience. I hope it works out for you. Congrats & good luck!

A lot of womens milk will not come in till after they have the baby, maybe as long as a week later. My milk didn't come in till like the 4th day will both of my children. Once you have the baby they will want your baby to nurse on them and that helps the milk to come in if it hasn't. It will be ok it will all work out.
