I love Chewie a lot. I woke up this morning to my mom screaming 'WHERE'D HE GO!?'. I jumped out of bed, and found that he was gone.
He's only gotten out twice before this, and both times I've spotted him before he got too far.
I'm afraid this time is different, he must've left last night. I don't know what to do.
He's chubby and sort of big, so he can't hide in tiny spaces.
Should I expect the worst? I feel so terrible, I really want him to come home..
So far we put his cage on the floor open, with treats.
But is there anything else I can do? Any advice would help!

Don't make stupid remarks such as 'lawlz, da cat ate it!!1one'
That's tottaly rude and immature, grow up.

Thank you.

Update. He's home safe and sound. He was hiding in our closet.
My kitten Milo actually found him.
He's pretty tired, but he's doing alright. We even bought him a new cage.
Thanks for the advice.

the best way to find an errant hamster is to first
1. get a bucket or bin that is too tall for the hamster to jump out of but not extremely deep.
2. place in the bucket some strong smelling foods that the hamster likes.
3. Build a hammie staircase to the top of the bucket with books or something similiar.
Hamsters are nearsighted, they have the ability to see about 7 inches clearly.
The hammie will smell the food, climb the staircase and fall into the bucket to be retrieved later. I used to use lettuce, just a little...don't want to give them the 'trots' later. If it is daytime there, you may have to wait overnight for the hamster to come out of wherever it is sleeping.
Be extremely careful when moving furniture to look for it because you might inadvertently squish him.
This is the cheap way to catch a hamster. You could also buy a live trap from a feed store and bait it. They cost about 20 dollars.
If your hamster keeps escaping, you will need to look at ways to keep it in the cage.
A tank needs a SECURE lid, hammies are trapeze artists.
Those newer tube cages have doors hamsters can figure out how to push open. Add binder clips and 'clip' the door to the bar right above the entrance. Or use the slide-clips like on dog leashes and such.

look behind the fridge, they are often there - dont move it though because u could squish him. also check the stove. have some broccoli or other fresh food with u to lure him in case he's there. put a bucket out with books or something leading up to it so he can crawl to the edge. make a trail of food on the books, just a tiny bit, leading up the books and then put broccoli (no water) in the bottom of the bucket he'll fall in and be trapped and waiting for u. a small trash can or anything not too tall with smooth sides works. since u r home u make sure his cage is on the floor open and he may sneak in for food and u can catch him. if u see him but cant grab him u might put a trash can or something like that in front of him so he'll run in it or his ball if u have one. he'll come out at night hungry if u dont find him today. look & listen for him. careful of doors and make sure there's no way outside--like where the washer or sink is. how did he get out? u will want to address that once u find him.

in case your hamster is lost for your position of abode, experience of the position it will be going to locate something to eat and drink. Small creatures like which have extreme metabolism and could not live very lengthy in any respect without nutrition and water. If there is an self-discipline the position you assume the hamster is going, you may want to sprinkle flour round in a layer on the floor (or on a newspaper on a carpeted flooring) in that field and then if the hamster crosses that issue, you'll see its tracks interior the flour. in case you position a cage or field on the floor so as that the hamster can flow into it and positioned nutrition and water in it, its conceivable that the hamster might want to flow in to eat and drink. If the hamster became lost exterior, the possibilities are extreme narrow of ever searching it alive. interior the shape you do suspect its hiding in a delegated position exterior, back that you'll try putting a field so the hamster can get into it, and want the hamster might want to flow into the sector for foodstuff and water.

In my experience at least, hamsters don't escape to hide, they escape to explore and/or eat, so they're not really shy about being found. But they can fit in surprisingly small spaces. If there are gaps between furniture and the wall, those are good places to look - so are shelves and piles of paper. You might want to put some food where his cage normally is, too, if you moved it, so he might stay put if he comes back. Look for droppings or bits of food or paper. And try to keep quiet, so you'll be able to hear any scrabbling or crunching sounds. Good luck; I hope you find him!

You would be surprised at the small spaces chubby hamsters can squeeze into. Remember that they sleep all day so wait until evening and then turn off everything noisy in the house and start listening for him in the walls. We've lost hamsters many times and we always find them in the walls or furnace vents. We had to take drywall off the wall once to save one but we have always got them back! Good luck!

Well, you can ask a few of your friends to come over and help you search your house. The more people the better, then you can cover more area. And don't worry you'll find him. I lost my hamster once and she's really tiny. Oh! look in the food cabnit, or somewhere where there's cereal or grain foods. try setting out his favorate food.
I hope you find chewie.

You'll be surprised sweetie that no matter how fat they are they can still fit in the most peculiar places... I have Guinea Pigs now but my hamster along time ago when he would get out, and he was fat , he would steel the dogs food and take it under, in the back of the refrigerator.... He was saving up for a rainy day I guess... try looking in your kitchen everywhere... they go for the food.... good luck....

Put some food out for him after a little while he'll get hungry and find the food. Keep an eye on the food. Hopefully you'll get lucky and your hamster will come back soon.
Good luck

Well, if your bedroom door was closed, I'd keep it closed and just go thru the room. If its in a public area, check under stuff. Thats the most likely place. Under pillows on the couch, things like that. When is he most active? That would be the time to look for him. Treats are good, thats a good thing to do.
I hope you find him soon!

Not to be mean or anything, but why do you guys get on 'Ask Yahoo' when your pet goes missing? Really, what can we do? You're just going to have to look for him, because we don't know where he is. =) So.... Sorry. I guess the only thing you can do is start carefully looking under and behind furniture. Also I think it helps to look at night, because they are nocturnal, and are active mainly at night, so they would be easier to find.
