I just bought a 95 civic ex coupe but the guy I bought it from did an engine swap on it. He said he got the engine from a 97 civic ex. I need to get the timing belt done and need to know what kind of engine I have. I'm pretty sure it's a D16 but I don't know if it's a Y8 or a Z6 or something else. Is there anyway to find out?

Honda marks each engine with its type. Here is how to find it:

With the hood open, stand in front of the bumper. Locate the exhaust manifold or header. The cylinder head meets the block just below it. Now look for some letters, about 3/4" tall, cast or stamped on the engine block a few inches below the top of the engine block.
