After all the "pacifist preachings" I had to live through in the 1960's, and finally all the Bible studying I have done since that time, I have come to believe that, contrary to popular opinion, Jesus WAS NOT, and IS NOT A WHIMP, and if you cross over the line of His life, you're gonna catch sheeiiiittttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!! And rightfully so. So, before you go asking whether we should follow the life of someone who, according to popular myth, was "the ultimate pacifist (not pacafist)" and who "went to His grave without the slightest struggle" and ask whether we should "die in quiet dignity", I think you ought to do some serious study of the Bible, and not just memorize "chapter and verse" so you can "out-quote" your nearest rival, but so you can get a true picture of what Jesus was doing down here. Jesus wasn't and isn't a whimp, and I think there's an enormous billions of people down her that are going to regret that misperception tremendously. I have before, and it's an easy misperception to fall into. God Bless you.

Well Jesus didn't die in quiet dignity but that is besides the point.
I am a Christian so of course I believe everyone should get saved and follow Jesus.
However, I know most people don't want to do that. Most people don't even believe in God anymore.
Despite a lack of belief in God.. if everyone abided by the ideals set forth by Jesus Christ, the world would be a MUCH better place! You would hardly have to worry about your neighbor.

It may not be a bad thing to follow his example when it comes to the general way he lived, but he lived in a time when his pacifism was more way ahead of his time than wrong. His aim may have been to get everyone to follow him in his pacifist ways (which would work if 100% of the people are pacifists), but pacifism doesn't work well when you're the only one practicing it.
Given the circumstances of his death it would seem that a futile struggle would have not only be useless but lacking in dignity; however, even though he spared himself that lack of dignity I don't happen to think he - by any stretch of the imagination - died in "quiet dignity".

no one can be completly like jesus.he had no sin nature but man does. jesus knew his purpoes even before the world was created. that is the reason jesus was able to go and die on the cross for all mankind.jesus did struggle, he struggled with complete rejection not only of man but also of the father as he hung on the cross when he became sin for all mankind god the father could not look upon him and in great agony christ called out to the father asking why had he forsook him. now that is a struggle not everyone can understand. can you?

Jesus lived and gave us the noble message of love nearly two millennia ago.His ministry was all over by the time he was 31 years. Such remarkable leaders are thrown up by the society to bring in epoch-making changes primarily for the benefit of mankind. Shall we emulate him? Most certainly we can derive benefit from his teachings especially the message of love and eschewing hatred, malice, covetousness and so on. We have to bear in mind that world has changed a lot from his days. Today we have science and technology impacting our lives much more than religion. World today is full of violence, terrorism and materialism. His message of love becomes even more relevant. Whether one wants to be a pacifist is ones own choice. I strongly feel circumstances prevalent today will not let one lead the life of a pacifist in this competitive world if you intend to be successful and make decent living.

Jesus was a person, not a nation.
He actually threw some crooked moneychangers out a window, does not sound like a pacifist to me.
As far as going quietly to his death, it was to resemble the passover lamb that the Jews used to sacrifice.
Ignore elsie s and her method of salvation, it's a load of bull.
Never once does the Bible indicate you should invite Jesus into your heart. It simply states you are to "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved". This is not for any of you who don't want to hear, so I'm not preaching at you. This is simply to keep people from thinking they can be saved using this method.

We are not Jesus. Times are different too.
During the life of Jesus, please remember the land was protected by the Roman Empire. There was a over whelming thought of security from foreign invaders. Which I believe is rather unique in history.
The question could be posed what if Jesus was sent to us during the period of Moses or the expansion of the Moors? How many would have followed if he practiced peace during a time rife with war?
There IS a reason he came to us at that particular time.

Yes,
we should follow him as an exsapel because although he was perfect and we are not he taught many principles that if they were followed today the world would be free of most crimes and mothers woul not have to worry about children walking to school,or if it is safe to fly across the country to go to a wedding because terrorists might take the plane as a hostage.

Okay, I'll admit that I'm most certainly not religious...but you need to re-read your New Testament. Ultimate pacifist? The guy was a rabble-rouser, and as a child allegedly struck another boy dead.
Live a good life because you *want* to live a good life. Not because you think you have to emulate somebody else.

Well isn't really that, but if you can live forgiving the people whose are looking for your wrong way to be, if you can accept Jesus as the son of God and if you do half as the He did, you'll be more than accept it in his kingdom. If you have faith as big as a mustard seed everything will be done as you asked for it. Dyeing like Jesus is something you don't have to do just believing on him.
