the thing looked like a big toad. the back of it looked just like a toad, it ws the same shape. as i approached closer to pick it up for my child, it got up on all 8 legs and scared the crap out of me, my boyfriend killed it. i thought i was gonna puke. i have never seen such an ugly spider , i live in the coastal nc area.

Maybe a tarantula, or in the dark could it have been a crab since they belong tothe same family as spiders and look a lot like them
