When I get migraine headaches, I forget names, words, etc...

It's next to impossible for me to carry on a conversation when I get these headaches, because I can't think of the words I want to use to form sentences...

Something as simple as, "Will you please turn off the light?" becomes a 30-second struggle and it turns into, "Will you... ummmm, ummmm... wait... turn off the light? Please?"

What's the explanation for this? (I'm sure there has to be one!)

P.S. If you suffer from migraines, does this happen to you also? Thanks!

Hey, The Man... Trust me, I don't need a migraine to tell me how unintelligent I am. I'm quite aware of the fact that I could use a brain boost. LOL

Migraine headaches are a neurological disorder. In addition to that, the start of a migraine usually involves a vasospasm (rapid contraction and relaxation of blood vessels) in the brain. When someone has a migraine, it means that blood flow to different parts of the brain has been changed and the neurons are not firing properly. Because of that, it is no wonder that thoughts, actions, and perceptions get mixed up when there is a migraine!

On a personal note, I have had migraines for over twenty years...and you sound like me when I have a migraine!

I get migraines (I call them "eyeball headaches") and when I get the severe ones I have the same problem you do. Don't know if there's an explanation for it, but it seems like the pain I have in my head is interfering with my brain's ability to process stimuli and information like I "normally" do when I'm not having a migraine. Every migraine sufferer I know gets debilitated in some way when they get a severe migraine, and the only thing I can think of that makes sense is since the brain controls everything it must be the migraine having such an impact on the brain that it can't function normally.

I know someone who suffers from migraines who has to be in a dark room, NO noise and gets physically ill...much less have a coherent conversation with someone....Your not alone. But I just hears two days ago that lavender oil is the only essential oils that you can apply directly on your skin and it won't burn. If you put it on your temples when you have a migraine it is supposed to help ALOT....I pass this info onto anyone who has migraines to try it...I Know even with insurance meds are very spendy! Hope you try this and it works for you:o)

As someone that has lived through all these events on the opposite side of the world it seems that whatever people do all cops are going to have their charges overturned from Rodney King through to Amandou Diallo and now to Sean Bell. It doesn't seem to matter whether we would riot or petition or hold marches or whatever. I look at it more from a Political point of view as my Brother is highly active in Human Rights & Environmental Activism but what do you hear out the mouths of most people our ages. These Tree Hugging Hippies and Left Wing Loonies creating havoc. Most fools believe what Politicians tell them and what they read in the papers and those that are wealthy build their whole lives around exploiting others. Unless you can make people give up their time and take risks like losing their homes, jobs etc to fight the fight for Freedom and Equality it's only gonna get worse. CCTV, Patriot Acts, Globalisation and War on Terror are just part of the start of suppression of Free Speech. I even see fans in this section hating on artists like Immortal Technique because they call them crackpot conspiracy theorists but a lot of what they say is true and we are too scared to admit most of us are pawns to the game.

It's hard to think straight when your head's about to explode.
