Dear Anita,
Foundation should be exactly the colour of your skin tone. Not as easy as it sounds though. Watching your natural hair colour, eye colour and skin tone can help you on the way. If you are a natural blonde or black head AND you have pale skine AND light coloured eyes (blue, green, grey), you probably have a rosy complexion. In that case you should leave all the golden or yellow based foundations out. Opt for colours like porcelaine, rosy beige etc... and check on your cheek to see whether the colour melts in. Cold types are Nicole Kidman, Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow, the Olsens and Marcia Cross.
If you are are a "warm type" (warm blonde, brunette and with a peachy, not rosy complexion) you should choose a yellow based shade for your make-up. Warm types are JLo, Nicole Richie, Eve Longoria, even Paris Hilton.
Remember: if you paint your hair, always choose a colour that matches your complexion, cold colours look weird on warm types etc. A good hairdresser knwos what you're talking about. So does a make up sales assistant.

foundation has nothing to do with hair color. It's just supposed to match your skin color so that it looks natural. unless your skin color matches your hair color, then it doesn't matter.

No. It will look ghostly. You should always match your foundation with your neck color. This give you a more blended and feminine appearance. Use Matte in the summer instead of the liquids. They last longer and look more natural.

Please be joking.

No, just the skin tone. I can't imagine matching your hair color with foundation. You'd have some people walking around with blue or purple faces!
