I mean really, what have I done in my life to deserve a job calling and talking to people who have zero desire to listen?

THEN DON'T DO IT. I HOPE YOU DON'T LIE TO THE PEOPLE YOU CALL TO GET THEM TO BUY A BAD INVESTMENT.

I have been there, done it, and hated it. So I can empathize with you. The good news is your are gaining some experience, so you can go work in a call center for a major company doing customer service with answering only inbound calls. I work for a major health insurance company and now make $18 dollars an hr
processing medical claims. If you really hate it, there are so many other jobs out there that you can find and be happy at. Good Luck!

You really should not spend your life doing something you hate. Life is too short and too precious. Figure out what you would enjoy doing and then figure out how to get there. Make an appointment with the career centre at a local community college, do some of the aptitute tests. They can help you plan how to do it, how to finance it etc. All the things that you think are holding you back are just excuses, you can overcome all of them if you want it bad enough. Get busy!!!

*fear
*timidness
*laziness
*you just don't "have" it

One or more of these may apply to you. Just give yourself a kick in the rear end and go getem. To make cold calls succesfully, make like you are a "warrior", or "middle linebacker" and go knock em down. Do not get affected by rejection, they are not rejecting you personally.
I am actually one of those "sickos" that actually enjoy cold calling. Of course the type of product or service you are pitching may make it easier or harder. Its good to start out with a harder product because you will hone your skills and get really tough!

ive been there

its like a never ending stream of rejection for 5-7hours a day 5 days a week

when the time is right you will flee from the ugly nest that is the cold call

just remember.......... this too shall pass

My son is really good at it, but he didn't get that gift of gab from me. I've done in-house sales, but I'd never be good at cold calling. Having said that, life is too short to be miserable. Start looking for a new position that is better suited to your skills and preferences. Good luck.

Because it's tough calling people when you know they find the call a nuisance. I had a job doing that once, and I just couldn't stand it. I lasted about three weeks.

Fortunately we live in the United States of America - a Capitalist society, and we all have the freedom to move if we dont like where we are in life.

If you dont like where you are, do something about it.

Cause they call at the most inappropriate times ever!!

They dont listen to what you have to say!!

They are abrupt / and have a monotone voice!!

All the offers they have - mean spending money we just dont have!!

Why would you like it?

Just take your self out of it and let your mouth make the money for you.
