there is no question of universal acceptance here. to check up the population growth the ceiling is raised on the age. child marriages are social evils for women to become widows even before their matrimony started. so there is absolutely no question of universal acceptance. belated marriages do not get healthy children because the delivery for a woman becomes rigid as there being no flexibility in the vertebral column. so only these factors make arrive at a commonsense approach to fix up the age of the couple. however the laws in India do prohibit a non major (18) to go in for marriage, because marriage is a contract and only majors can enter into contract as per finance and commerce segments, so it is applied here also!!

I don't think there is a universally accepted age. In many 3rd world countries, they marry very young. In more modern societies it is generally accepted that they should be at least 18.

My answer is 28. This is because a man spends his first 18 years till +2.Then he spends nearly 5 to 8 years doing his degree. And then he needs an average of 3 years to settle in his life after finding a Job.Only then he can marry.

You can't really put an age on when you should get married, it's when two people fall in love, want to spend eternity together, and you're both mature enough to commit to something like that. If I had to put an age, it's my opinion, I'd say wait until you're at least 25 (female), and 35 (male).

It depends on the couple.....It used to be 21 when I was growing up....A girl thought she'd be an "old maid" if she wasn't married by then....Now a days, women are more independent and want a career first, so why hurry? As long as the biological clock keeps ticking....she can wait until her late 30's or 40's...,That is if she wants to have children...

Legally I think you have to at least be 18. Morally who cares? You only live once so do what you like. Don't think about what others may say. Just be happy and live life. If marriage is in the picture then do that too
