there is a sensor that mounts either on the radiator ,,or the the coolant jar on it,,and all it does is monitor the level of coolant,,if it goes bad it will come on,,sometimes they just blink off,,and on,,just enough to drive you nuts,,you can un hook it,,but it is better to replace it,,then you,ll know when you are low on coolant,,there not expensive to replace,,and simple to put in,,but you can unhook it temporarily,,just be sure to get it replaced,,later on,,i hope this helps,,good luck with it.

I'll make an educated guess.
There should be a coolant recovery jug near the front of the car, in the engine compartment. It should be marked. A two wire connector should be visible on it. That will be the sensor connection. Unplug the wire and see if the light goes out. If it does, replace the sensor. Jiggle it first to see if it's only stuck.

There's a coolant level sensor located at the base of the coolant resorvoir , were you added the coolant.
Take a rubber malot (or something similiar )and tap on the resorvoir near the sensor.
This should work , if it doesn't replace the sensor.
P.S. Some year models differ, if the sensor is not at the base of the resorvoir ,it will be to the left of the radiator when standing in front of the car. (perform the same procedure)
common problem on these cars.........

Did you add it directly to the cold radiator or did you put it into the overflow tank? If the valve from the overflow tank is stuck shut it might not have gone into the radiator so that is still low and still a problem. Sensor sounds less likely. Also check for a puddle of coolant under the car which would indicate leaking out.

Assuming the coolent level is just right, you can probobly bet you have a bad sensor. If you don't have the time or money to get the sensor repaired, just keep an eye on the level and the engine temperature gauge. Assuming the level doesn't drop and the engine doesn't over heat you shouldn't worry about it being something major.

There could be a problem with the sensor. Another possibility is a crack in the cam (this happened to me) and the coolent is leaking out. If you don't know much about Grand Pris I would suggest this is the time to bring it into a dealership (I know - oh no not that) or to a local mechanic who knows alot about GM cars. Sorry :(

It is possible that it is a sensor i would get it checked out or just leave it alone and don't worry about it. Then again it may go off on its own.

I don't know that much about cars, but I do know that you should probably call someone. If your coolant is leaking it could be a threat to the enviroment. Try calling your local autoshop or something.
