How many people living in the home ? Babies or small kids ? Others coming over to use W & D ? In other words= how much "wear and tear" are you(and others) going to put the washer through ? Washers come in different tub capacity sizes >> standard size(18#)== H.D. size(20#-perhaps more). Also washers come in different over-all sizes=some a little smaller==others a little bit larger/wider. Got enough room ? Many washers now are "Direct- Drive ". This means that the drive motor is "connected" to the gear case(transmission) via a "coupler". This setup is made out of rubber and plastic which can wear/break(in my opinon)faster than a belt driven washer. This==(again in my opinon) is often caused by heavy usage and overloading the tub. Do you really need a washer that has a control head that is "smarter" than you? Consider this==the more complicated features you have==the more to go wrong==also the repair costs go up= sometimes to the point of getting another washer. There are several "brands" that are good (several "brands" are produced by the same company=thro the "name" will lead you to believe differently). Deal with a "good" store==ask questions about warranties and repair service=get it in writing !! Don"t accept "half-answers" to any of your questions. Also==about extended warranties== Me,myself, and I personally consider these to be of little value=if any. Think about this with a "logical" mind and discover this for yourself. Some people have "kicked" themselves for signing up==especially with a credit card. The final decision rests with you. Good Luck.

I'm not sure what you mean by semi automatic. If you are taking about just a regular Washer I think whrilpool makes great appliances and so dose Kenmore.(sears)

buy a front loader. the saving in water and soap alone are worth the price. Lg makes a good one,as does whirlpool. Frigidaire makes a inexpensive one but I cant guarantee reliablility. If you got some money, miele and bosch make great units, but the miele can be stacked and not the bosch.
