These are new floors and my friend's dog ran across them and scratched them.

Min wax makes a product called Polyshade that is stain and polyurethane mixed together. Just find the color that matches your floors and wipe a little on the scratches and there gone.

Dog claws should have made some extremely superficial scratches. It might not have even gotten through the finish. Try rubbing on a little extra of whatever you polish your wood floors with.

If it's a little deeper, you might be able to get it out by buffing and waxing.

Deeper than that, and to really get rid of it may take sandpaper. The wax dripping thing is a decent quick fix. Shoe polish of about the right color can also be rather effective.

I use a product called Howards Restore a Finish which you can find for under $5 on the paint/stain aisle in the home improvement stores. It is easy to apply with a lint free rag for small areas or a sponge mop for large ones. You can get it in the stain color of the floors or in clear. It will fill in the scratches, restore the shine and won't damage the finish either.

This is more of a temporary fix :

take a white/clear candle and light it , once the wax has started to melt drip a bit on the scratches and smooth it out and remove any excess with your finger

Hope it helps
