I'd go Independent and vote for Edith. Her perfect cabinet would be Louise Jefferson, Secretary Of State, Bea Arthur, Attorney General. Meathead, Health & Welfare, . You get the idea.

I'd vote for Archie, because Meathead was truly a Meathead liberal. I'm wondering how many people on here are going to know who Archie Bunker and Meathead are.

Archie Bunker, no doubt!!! He's the one doing the work and bringing home "the bacon" as the saying goes. Meathead is just living off of Archie's welfare and philosophizing without any practical application experience. God Bless you.

We've been watching the first season of All in the Family on dvd. It is utterly amazing how terrific TV used to be, how openly America could express things.
But, let's face it, people - Archie was a very ignorant man. He was involved in neighborhood campaigns to keep blacks and jews out of his neighborhood. His vocabulary was on par with Bush's. The great thing about Archie, tho, was that he had a heart. If he got to know someone as an individual, it tended to blow to heck his categories and understanding of the world, and he tried to adapt to new information.
Archie had no historical understanding, he was blind about America's imperialist actions, and Michael was not blind about AMerica's good attributes - in fact, he was constantly exercising them.
I certainly wish we'd get to the point where we could have an athiest president - John Adams wished that for us. As Carl Sagan said, we'd be to the stars by now, if not for the religious mindset.
