I go to Target and Wal-mart
Targets prices are higher than Wal-marts but they offer alot of cool things other than the usual.
Wal-mart does have the cheaper prices but not alot in verity.
K-mart is well, kinda like a big Fred's or General Dollar, sooo

Target all the way. They have AWESOME stuff and more of it at almost the same price as Wal-Mart (they are a little bit more expensive).
Wal-Mart isn't bad: they are useful for having to get something/doing something when it is 2:00 in the morning.
K-mart never has anything, and they smell horrible.

Target, and the others do not come close.
The selections are higher quality and more varied, the prices are more than competitive, the stores are always and without exception, spotless and filled with happy salespeople. NO overhead speakers blasting nonsense (which explains the good-natured sales people) . Add a Starbucks & Pizza Hut and you can't beat the combination. An icy cold lemonade with a slice of pizza after shopping....mmmmMMMM.
Wal Mart used to be my favorite, but they treat workers so shabbily, particularly injured workers, that I simply cannot condone it. Now they've decided it is absolutely necessary to have NOISE blaring across the store speakers non-stop. It is so loud a person cannot even think, let alone have a conversation. Stores are beginning to resemble second-hand outlets, with no offense meant to the thrift stores.
Kmart would be cool if the store managers could get the price tags and the registers to agree, and get the stores cleaned up. Shopping in Kmart requires a tetanus shot nowadays. I DO like the fact they have Christmas tree make-a-wish events for disadvantaged kids. They are the ONLY store here to do so, and they allow the Salvation Army bell ringers at Christmas time. THAT rocks! Helping kids more than makes up for the rest.

Walmart has a greater selection but around the metro here it's too busy and takes too long to get through. K-Mart has a smaller selection but I think they are cheaper, they seem to have a low-class and run-down appearance these days. Target has probably the most visually maintained stores, and product selection is usually less than Wal-Mart. The Super-Targets have a larger selection, but still far less products available than Wal-Mart. You may find that stores vary depending on the region. My opinion is based on the midwest, specifically Des Moines area.
