Set some goals- Where do you want to be in 5 years time?? Make a plan and then do it! If you don't plan you will be in the same situation in 5 years time! I would suggest some type of education, set up a budget and surround yourself with good people. Don't get into trouble with the law and all will be ok. If you are still stuck- PRAY! God always has the answers!

Now that you have stated your problem, you need to find a solution.
1. Define your passion.
2. Determine if it is legal. Go back to step 1 and take this seriously.
3. Determine what career (not job) is in line with your passion.
4. Review educational needs that go with the career.
5. Obtain a "job" within the career field.
6. If education is needed for career, investigate if company pays for education.
7. Apply for a few classes, seeking financial assistance.
8. If no education is required for the career, you might still want to pursue in case you change your mind about the career choice.
9. Work hard and request that you be interviewed for openings within the company to move ahead.
The most important advice is that you should not give up and have a pity party. There are plenty of "self made" people out in the world that may have come from a worse situation than your own.

This is not an easy question, but I have the answer for you.
What are you interested in? If you like work that you can see the results of immediately, I would say look into trade work, mason, electricians (they make great $$), etc. If you are more interested into scientific or techinical work then college is the answer.
However you said you have no cash. So the best possible option for you is to join the Army. 4 years and you will have TONS of money to put towards your education/training. Yes you will be a little older than the average student but who cares, this is your life, and the sooner you take the steps to get what you want, the sooner you get what you want.
Good luck...I joined the Army in 1989 and served for 4 years 2 months 1 week and 14 minutes, and for awhile it was great, but I was ready to leave when I did. I went to college as a 21 year old freshman with a car and legal access to beer...it was great, and now I have a career. A little sacrafice gets a little gain, a great sacrafice gets a big gain.

If you are in the UK you can sign on the job seekers and start by going to a careers advisor. If the path you prefer needs you to get education then you benefits will pay for your fees and you can get your training for free. Or you could go for an aprenticeship which is when you get a job that trains you as you work, this may entail a few days a week at college for free. Or, go to the Princes Trust/In Biz and they will help you establish your own business and give you a very low rate loan. There are many options for you so dont feel too down in the dumps. Start by taking the step to talk to an expert. Good luck!

You could go to school. At your age, you are now considered a "non-traditional student." There are scholarships you can get.
You could join the military. I'd advise Air Force or Navy, since they're not the ones usually getting shot at, unless you like that sort of thing. They're also giving HUGE enlistment bonuses right now, and will, in four years, pay for an education for you. To a degree, anyway.
You could join the Peace Corps. You don't get paid much, but you travel the world and help lots of people.
Or, you could go solo. Find what you're good at, and expand on it. Like to draw? Write? Play an instrument? You don't always have to be trained for a good job. Or, rather, you don't have to be "trained." And if all else fails, teach. Surely you know SOMETHING. If it's as simple as teaching an 80 year-old to surf the web, or as complicated as teaching an immigrant English (or whatever language), there's always something to do.

Grow up and realize that nothing is handed to you on a silver platter. If you want a better life, then you have to work for it and work hard. There are opportunities out there for anyone willing to seek them out and work for them. A good education is one way to go, there are grants, scholarships, student loans, all sorts of ways to finance an education...there are apprenticeship programs in the trades, there are even trade schools that will loan you the money to attend and let you pay them back after they find you a job. But what it comes down to is that YOU have to do the work.

You are not too old to get an education. When I was 29 I had a husband and 3 children (2 were preschoolers) and I went back to school I wanted to be a nurse. I worked in a bar every Friday Saturday and Sunday to pay my way thru school. I have been a nurse 31 years If you want to improve yourself YOU CAN

Go back to school. After almost 20 years, I am going back to finish my degree. I am 39, so it doesn't matter how old you are for college. If college is not good for you, go to a trade school. Go into the military and learn something there. It doesn't mean they will send you to Iraq or some other place like that. There are other postings in this world, just don't get sucked in to the idea there is nothing more out there. Find a way out your predicament.

You can choose a job that you like, and work as an apprentice, thought is low pay, but the most important is, you learn the skills.
For example, if you like cooking France cuisine, then join a French restaurant, and work your way to be a good cook.
There is a success example in Hong Kong, where the person after few years of hardwork, he managed to open a French restaurant, serving authentic French cuisine.

Do you have a HS diploma? If not, get your GED. You don't need a college education to get a good job, you need one to get a job that requires a degree. But each person has to follow their own path and if that path means college then go for it. Start looking for a better job first of all.
