Robert Jordan has repeatedly said that the main sequence will conclude with the twelfth book, with a working title of A Memory of Light. Numerous times he has said he will hold to this statement even if it has to be 2000 pages long. At some point in the future Jordan plans to write two more short prequel novels, an encyclopedia, and possibly two or three other side-plot novels. [1]. However, Jordan has revealed on his blog that he may have only a short time left to live.

It's finished in that the series now sucks and it has not been worth borrowing the latest book from your friend, let along buying cursed thing. How can such a long long book have so little happen in it? The world is so big that all Jordan can describe is a screenshot worth of text before going on to the next group of people I can scarcely remember. I mean, that's besides introducing new people. Or bringing back people from the dead. In addition, the beginning of the series, which is fabulous up until about book 5, starts off as a nice little bildungsroman and ends up in some weird kinky stuff that seems to degrade the strong female characters. Why do three strong female characters decide to have a four-way marriage with one guy?!? Then it just deteriorates from there where now it seems like Jordan is getting his ideas from porn! Dominatrix/Submissives on dog leashes to "pillow friends"?!? Why is it all of a sudden in the last book all the women have had pillow friends?? What has happened in the last 4 books could have been combined into one decent book. To be, the wheel of time is finished because I don't think I can go through reading a 1000 page book that rambles about nothing and where nothing happens. I could be doing something with my life! You know, like answering questions on Yahoo Answers!

Not yet. Since he's pretty sick right now, I don't suppose he's writing much, but he's determined to battle his sickness and finish the twelfth book, apparently called "A Memory of Light". You just have to cross your fingers, pray, or whatever that he does finish it with that book. Not that I believe even the last book will answer half of my unanswered questions, but that's another matter entirely.
