TSA rules say that you can have a small screwdiver and two books of matches.
You have to keep up with the latest news on what is dangerous. Yesterday they prohibited mascara so now that must be the weapon of choice for terrorists.

With any story there are always multiple sides. Information is provided by witnesses. What one sees is different than what another sees. One may have seen matches, screwdrivers, a machete, etc. While anotherone from back of the plane may have just seen a hysterical lady.
