like do we need any software on the comp.?pls tell me.and if software is necessary can u tell me where can i get it?

Yes you will need some kind of software for it to work (most likely). To make sure you can plug it into your computer with the data cable and see if it sets it up automatically (say as another drive on the computer in the My Computer folder).
I have a motorola and can use the motorola mobile phone tools, but I am not sure what you need for a nokia. Good luck!

I've been through hell with Nokia cables, first I had a serial cable which was supposed to be plug and play, but it didn't work (plug and play- no software necessary)
Then I had to buy a DKU-2 USB cable, for which you have to first launch the installer program on the CD and when it asks you to, plug in the cable(without phone) to the USB port. You generally need the Nokia PC suite software bundle as well as the cable driver to do anything with the PC and the phone.

Yes, you need a software connecting your phone to PC. I purchased the usb data cable from this site and download the Nokia PC suite. It works great.

I have a Nokia 6101 that I am still trying to get to talk to my computer. I bought a CA-42 USB data cable, then installed Nokia PC Suite. Still can't get it to work.
