Are you planning on getting one? Why? I think it's a fad, but the tatoo will be around when the fad is over.

When I was about 18, I almost got a tattoo. I told my mom and she smiled and said I should ask my Aunt Harriet (successful lady executive at major department store, in the early 70s) about HER tattoo. I loved and admired my Aunt Harriet, God rest her soul, so I called and asked her. She said, "TATTOO??!! I don't have a tattoo! I would NEVER have reached the position I have today if I had a tattoo!"
Over the years, whenever I meet a highly placed executive, I ask if they have a tattoo. The most common answer? "If I did, I wouldn't admit it." I don't know if this helps, but I hope so.

I love my tattoo, I have a sunflower on my right ankle and I am very happy with it. I never thought I would be the type to get one, I was like 48 years old when I got this. In general I think people have to be very careful about getting them because they are hard to get rid of if you change your mind. I don't like ones that are big and cover large areas of arms and legs, and not on the neck or face ever.

i got my first tat at 18 and didnt get another till 23. im almost 29 now and im still going. i dont regret it at all because ive always been into body art, but yes its a fad right now and i think people arent putting enough thought into their tattoos or their artists and will regret it later. you shouldnt get a tattoo because everyone else it doing it. the whole point of a tattoo to me is to set me aside from everyone else, to be different. i love my tattoos and i have many more hours of needles to endure :) i know im going to be a wrinkly old woman covered in ink...and im okay with that, because its who i am.

I have a small one on the back of my ankle. Just a small tribal design. But i'd love one across my lower back. I think some are sexy and some women go overboard or put them in skeezy spots like their chest.

i've had mine for 10 years and although i wish i hadn't done it, i can't imagine my stomach without the little monogram.

it's kinda sad though, because the artist told me that it would stretch out when i got pregnant - "oh, i'm never getting pregnant."
and that it wouldn't be accurate when i got married - "never getting married." very independent attitude back then.

i hope i didn't seal my fate.
