I only want running backs here, so with the obvious pick of Portis out, how much should I let my pick slip to pick up a high reception back. I am very high on taking S.Jackson, although I have him ranked 8th on my sheets. I figure if I take a back who gets 6 receptions a game as opposed to 1 it is worth an extra touchdown a week. Also how much should I let that weigh into the decision of my running backs. Thanks alot.

This a tough questions , that the answer could vary depending on How many teams in the league & Line -up requirments.
Let's say it is 10 league team with a standard line -up ( 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, etc.) . Then you might want to strongly consider the Following :
1. S. Jackson ---- in the 10 top of all RB with receptions with 43 catches for 320 yards & 2 TD. Those totals might slip a little this year due new coach commitment to Run more. But, That will add to his total value, making a very good choice at Number 5. His Average draft postions is around 1-7

2. Lamont Jordan ---- he led the leauge in RB receptions with 70 for 563 yards & 2 TD's . He was in 26th for whole NFL in receptions. Plus Better QB this year could add to his value .
Plus He is very good overall RB, with very good Rushing Stat's. His A.D.P. is late first to early 2nd, the fifth would not be bad if the 3 big Guns are Gone ( LJ, LT, and S. Alex).

3. Kiki Barber ---- very solid. The old man keep putting on great stats. He had 54 receptions for 530 & 2 TD's. His ADP is middle to late first round( 1-5) .

4 . Brian Westbrook ---- 61 Receptions for 616 yards and 4 TD's . A Good RB but with a some risk. His ADP is early 2nd Round.

I hope that Help a little , Plus keep a close eye on Portis Status, He still could be worth the risk.

the receptions are really important in a pt per reception, so pick a guy who can get receptions. s.jax would be a good choice for 2 reasons:
1. linehan wants to have a more balanced offense, so his #s may go up, along with being a good recieving threat, cuz the rams love to throw.

2. the rams d sucks, so they will pass a lot in the end of many games, so he may get a lot of receptions.

although, tiki barber is also a good choice because he had the most yards from scrimmage and is a recieving threat always, despite not getting all the goalline carries. i think i would take tiki at 5 in this kind of league.

With the fifth overall pick in a point per reception league I'd go with Tiki Barber, Lamont Jordan, Ste[hen Jackson. one fo those three should still be there at 5th pick

i am guessing that the first 4 would be lj, alexander, lt, and tiki so i would say go with steven jackson, who will have a much bigger role in the offense this year. in the second round you could get someone like domanick davis. also wr's are of a lot more value in points per reception leagues.

Shaun-A, LJ, L.T., and Tiki will probly be gone if not take one of them

Clinton is good but his shoulder is concerning
Edge is a long shot at this point
Caddy is a good pick
Ronnie Brown is very good too
Lamont Jordan is real real good
Stephen Jackson is realy good but is a power runner and could cause injury concern but if not will be a great pick

thats pretty much all you got

Tiki Barber if still on the board. Brian Westbrook is the man when it comes to catching RBs. You might want to consider him as well. Lamont Jordan lad all backs last year with 70.

Good choices would be Jackson, Jordan, Edge, Brown. Tiki will be off the board already. And Westbrook is too injury prone to take 5th.

By the 5th pick you might have the option of Corey Dillon, Rudi Johnson, or even Brian Westbroook (he catches a lot). I know Tiki Barber's ranking has been dropped and he probably won't get 2300 all purpose yards, but he's still a good one.

Take TIKI. I'm in a reception league, and I've drafted him the last 2 years... And I've liked him a lot.

I took him 8th last year and got laughed at, I was laughing when he anchored my team to 2nd place.

TIKI BARBER!!!! he is gunna have another amazing year he catches A LOT of passes. Last year he had 1,800 rushing yard and 800 receiving yards, this year will probably be similiar.
