I'm 19 years old and I weigh 130 lb and I'm 5'7. I feel really gross because my sister is 21, shes weighs 110 and is also 5'7. She has recently lost a lot of weight (went from 160lb to 110 in 2 months) so now I feel really overweight. Is 130 normal or should I lose weight?

130 for your height is very normal. 110 for you height is actually too thin. What did your sister do to lose 50 pounds in 2 months? Because whatever it was, wasn't healthy. To be objective about it, we can look at your weight using the BMI, or Body Mass Index scale. A score of 20-25 is concidered healthy, and ideal. You get a score of 20.5, good job. Your sister on the other hand gets a score of 17, which is concidered underweight.
So, you are fine. Be happy with you weight, because millions of women out there are killing themselves to be your size. I'm a little concerened about your sister though. What did she do to lose that much weight? Losing that much in 2 months puts a strain on the heart, and being that thin puts her at risk for heart problems and osteoporosis.

No way!

I used to think that way, I am 5' 7" used to weight 110 and I was not healthy, not at all. I had fatigue issues among other things.
After my 2nd son was born, I weighed about 130-135..I thought I was fat, but I was not. I look back at pictures and I was thin and looked good!
I weigh more now because of cancer treatments and steroids and just bad eating habits stemming from that.
I am slowly loosing weight.
I would be happy with 140...

50lbs in 2 mos for your sister is in HEALTHY! at all......yea she may be skinny but its not good.

Just eat healty, but eat!
and ride your bike, walk, run, do some pilates, but do it safely!

God Bless
Good luck

the healthy weight for a 5"7 female is actually 135 at least. you are actually 5 pounds underweight, and your sister is waaaaaaaay underweight. i am concerned about her weight loss, it's too drastic and she is too underweight, i am concerned because there maybe some underlying problems like anorexia which is pretty common among teenagers and young adults. for her to lose that much weight drastically in 2 months, there may have been something that "clicked" in her and created a monstrous image inside her head because, she now fears being overweight.

try to observe her eating habits, if she is not eating that much and maybe starving herself, talk to her. if she clearly does not want to address her problem, speak to a trusted adult who can help her.

but as of now, people may "compliment" (notice the quotation marks?) her on her weight loss, but don't use this as a criteria for weight loss. if you feel left out because relatives have been "complimenting" her -- don't feel bad, 90% of the time, these supposed adults don't know what they're talking about. i get that a lot in my family, finally i just "clicked" and told myself "why should i try to please these people when the only person that i should think about is myself?" -- i hope you get my point.

You could lose some ,based on your height but
130 isn't too bad.At your age,if you start now,with proper
diet exercise and nutrition, you could pull off the extra 20 pounds in no time if you wanted.

Too skinny is worse than a little big if you ask me.

Real women are not built like 12 year old phillipino boys.I can promise you this.Men love hips and butts.

I don't think you're fat. Your sister lost weight too fast. She will probably put back on the weight she lost PLUS a couple of extra pounds.

That's not healthy.

That is a perfectly healthy normal weight for your hieght, any less and it could make you unhealthy, maybe your sister should put back some of the weight she lost for health reasons.

At 5'7 you are at the norm. Some calculate it as at 5'0 100 lbs. and for every inch 5 lbs. so you are actually underweight. Your sister sounds like she is on her way to anorexia
