Why wouldn't you put a valuable, veteran player like Rich Aurilia in the game. He can play any position, and, in my opinion, is the player I would want at the plate in clutch situations. I know Nerron has some great talent to shift around, but he's Aurilia really deserves a full-time spot. I think Clayton could take a seat more often.

You couldn't be more right about Royce Clayton's futility. I realize he gets credit for being a good fielder, but next to Neifi Perez he's probably been the most consistenlty poor hitter in baseball over the past decade. All the fielding in the world can't make up for a .313 OBP, especially when it's coupled with a .370 slugging percentage. He's a truly terrible hitter.

Aurilia is by no means a star, but at least he gets on base slightly more often and hits for some power. I'm really not sure how Narron can justify playing Clayton at all, instead of using an Aurilia-Encarnacion left side. I know that doesn't make for the greatest defensive alignment, but their offensive contributions over a season are much more valuable than good defensive play.

Also, I like the comment above about the relievers, too. It does seem that the Reds are trying to attain every middle reliever in baseball for this stretch drive.

It bothers me that Narron likes to change his lineup so much. Royce Clayton is useless, i would have designated him for assignment a long time ago. Rich aurilia is still a very solid hitter, and has just as much range at SS as Clayton does. The reds also have Juan castro to play SS on days that Aurilia needs rest, or when hatteberg and Encarnacion need a break and aurilia takes their position. I hope i don't see clayton starting any more the rest of the season.

The Reds strategy is to have a 24 man roster completely made up of relief pitchers plus Adam Dunn. I don't think the Lopez trade has worked out so good for them.

well yeah, thats true, but you gotta realize, he isnt the best fielder in the world, also edwin is good, but not solid on defense at third, so you have to think that it is very possible that the left side of the infield is very vonerable every time you put them both in. But also, lets not think narron is awesome just yet, you have to admit he over manages, alot

Jim Bowden is in Washington Now by the way, and its wayne kristky you are thinking of.

When Rich Aurillia is hot is one of hitting players at his positon and he would be having one of his best statistical years since he hit 35 HR in San Fran if he played more
