I just got from 12 days in Las Vegas yesterday. Had a great time.

Here is a great tip, depending on what you are interested in doing.

Check out the Las Vega Powerpass Card for a great deal on places to see and things to do. Depending on how many times you use it, it pays for itself quickly. Also, they are having a sale on %20 off 3 and 5 day passes. We had a 5 day pass.

The Deuce is the cheapest way to get around. It i a double decker bus that runs the strip. Cost is $2 per ride, or $5 for a 24-hour pass. You can pay on the bus (need exact change/bills). You can also use this pass on any of the CAT busses around town.

If you ride the monorail, it is $5 per trip, or $40 for a 3 day pass - buy at the monorail stations.

If you want to have a great time out for dinner, check out the Hofbrauhuas Las Vegas. The only other Hofbrauhaus in the world outside of Munich - we ate there three times last week! (Across the street from the Hard Rock casino).

Went to see the following shows all were great:

Celine Dion
Blue Man Group
Mama Mia
Cirque du Soliel - 'O'
Jubilee - not really that good, but fun to see none the less. (traditional Vegas topless showgirls).

Did the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton again - always fun.

Gambling is cheaper Downtown than on the Strip for table games.

Sirenes of TI show at Treasure Island is lame.
Mirage Volcano not as lame as Sirens of TI
Bellagio water fountains are good.
Sigfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin habitat is OK.
Carnegie Deli at Mirage has massive sandwiches!
Nero's Steakhouse at Caesar's Palace is awesome (but expensive).
Stratosphere Tower is worth the wait in line.
Guggenheim Hermitage Museum at Venetian currently having a Ruebens exhibit, small but worhtwhile.
King Tut exhibit at Luxor is good, In Search of the Obelisk ride is really lame.
Mandalay Bay buffet is good, Bally's Buffet is OK.

You may want to see Circus Circus and the Stardust casinos - both are being torn down in the next year.

Casino Royal on the strip next to Harrah's has an OK sign up deal - $50 'free slot play' on the promo machines, not regualr machines. At least you get a chance to win some decent money. And $1 Michelobs and Lime or Strawberry Daquiri's all day.

Keep a look out for the comps cards. Harrah's owns Caesar's, Harrah's, Bally's, Rio, and a couple others. They use the Total Rewards system (that's the name). If you sign up for one, don't bother with the others, since it is all one system.

If you have time, Hoover Dam is worth the trip, but expect it to take a bit longer than normal. There is construction the last 4 miles of roadway headed to it that can cause some serious traffic delays.

EVERYTHING is a lot bigger and further apart that the maps lead you to believe.

BRING GOOD WALKING SHOES!!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I love Vegas. We go so often we DON'T stay on the strip. We "visit" the strip. We rent a car, stay at the Sunset Station in Henderson and love downtown (old Vegas). The Strip is something to "experience" if you are a new comer, high roller, or don't visit very often. The minimums are REAL high. Bolder Highway has some of the "locals" casinos. Not fancy but you can find $.50 and $1.00 minimums. Get out of town if you have a car. Parhaump(spelling) is West(over the mountains)about an hours drive away. The only winery in the state is there. Red Rock Canyon is a great get away(only about 20 or 30 minutes outside of town). If you have extra time, visit the Valley of Fire...beautiful!

Keep your wallet at home!

Actually, Las Vegas is a fun, wonderful city to visit. I would recommend staying at a nice hotel, such as the Mirage, the Venetian, or the Wynn Hotel. There is a lot to do there, shows, gaming, restaurants, walking on the strip, as well as other things such as helicopter rides, and trips to the Hoover Dam. Las Vegas is a fun-filled city.

Enjoy!

NEVER play more than you can comfortably afford to lose - if you have to skip paying bills to play, then you're playing WAY too much.

Make sure you eat at least one of the nicer restaurants in the city. Take your pick - they're all over the place.

If you're out and about during the day, make sure you hydrate well. It can get very hot and you won't realize you're dehydrated until you're REALLY dried out.

Take some time and head out to Hoover Dam, it's beautiful and worth the half day to do it.

Since I don't know your point of departure, I can only suggest that you search for a package that combines airfare and hotel
If possible, try to find something through Southwest vacations (swavacations.com) They offer every hotel imaginable and also have frequent discounts of at least $50.00 per reservation

Always get a comp card at any casino you play at.

Always use the comp card.

Make a gambling budget of money you can afford to lose, and stick to it.

If you play slots always play maximum coins.

I'll be there next week, if you see me give me $1,000 it will bring you good luck.
