Well, she can't go in to an interview in a miniskirt. They're going to see her as irresponsible. It gives the impression that she's more willing to manipulate her way around than work to get what she needs. Also, she will not get the respect she needs dressed in one. What she needs to do is "Dress for Success." Unfortunately, that normally means a suit. If she doesn't want to wear a suit, she can wear slacks, a button-up shirt, and find a nice dress jacket to go with it. No open-toed shoes. Dresses don't give a good impression. It doesn't matter if the clothes she wears to the interview don't fit her personality; she's trying to convince these people that she's the person for the job. Once she gets it, then she can wear what she wants as long as it meets company guidelines.

She needs to avoid minis for work, unless she is going to be a cocktail waitress. She doesn't have to wear a dress to work either.
Pants are fine for a job, as long as they are nice. She should look sophisticated, not trashy. Darker colors work best, navy, forest green, black, brown, gray, plum, burgundy, etc... Tailored looks are more professional. They should fit properly around the waist and hips, and be the right length. If average pants are too short, or too long, she needs to look at the special sizes, Petites or Talls.
Pair the slacks up with a conservative top, no plunging necklines, bold patterns, sheer see-through fabrics, and it should have sleeves of some kind. The tanks and camis should only be worn under a jacket, or left at home, and only if they are dressy, not casual. The shirt shouldn't have any writing on it either. Solid colors, very simple prints, or small stripes. Nothing loud like a tropical, or animal print.
Nice dress shoes, no heels higher than 3". Closed toes for hose or stockings.
She can then add accessories to her taste. If she likes big earrings, then she can wear them. Jewelry and makeup don't have to be sedate when the outfit is. This is one great little way to keep your individuality and style at work.

She got the job and now she is going for the interview.... That's whats called the "Nod" or the "Tap on the Shoulder " or in your friends case " the pat on the bum " Doesn't matter what she wears she has the Job... Just turn up plain - Black trousers & a white Blouse/Shirt - 2 or 3 buttons undone.. and take the label on the soles of the new shoes off .. and Smile !

For an interview, mini-skirts are definitely OUT. Slacks are OK with a nice blouse, especially during the summer. Warn her against wearing anything red though -- believe it or not, both men and women who interview prospective employees find people who wear red to be too aggressive, and studies show that women who wear red to a job interview usually don't get hired.
