I'm sure this has already been answered many times but I want the points. When taking the square roots of fractions, you can take the square root of the numerator and denominator. 81 and 144 are perfect squares (of 9 and 12, respectively). Thus, the square root of 81/144 is 9/12 which reduces to 3/4.

When you have the square root of a fraction you can take the top and the bottom of the fraction and do the square root of each part and then simplify your answer.
square root of 81 =9
----
square root of 144=12

after square rooting your answer is 9/12
9 and 12 can both be divided evenly by 3 so 9/12 can be simplified to 3/4
