1. Efficient, tight & relatively safe. It can't be 100% that's for sure=P
2. The same as in any other Asian countries. More emphasis on books rather than thinking creatively. However, most professionals with credible educational background ARE graduates from here, lol ☺
3. Slowly heading towards a decline but stable overall.
4. Reasonably good in quality & up to standard to accomodate public' needs
5. Still has room for improvement

p/s Would like to note that although I find S'pore to be a beautiful country, I find that the locals are rather snobbish *sorry* Added to that, it (country) feels rather rigid & regimented. A lil' too uptight.

Religious freedom, freedom of expression and cultural diversity. Singapore is notorious for being extremely restrictive on people's ability to explore or express ideas in art, religion/spirituality and sexuality.

While there's no denying that Singapore offers a great environment for prosperity and intellectual growth (right now for example there is a major and well-funded drive to recruit leading scientists from universities around the world, effectively setting up Singapore to lead in technological advancements, especially in the field of stem-cell research) the repressive nature of society is a major tradeoff.

Singapore is a nice city, but after many years living in this country, I can see that the Singaporean are basically living in a environment that everything are being well prepared. I worked with a lots of them who are no guts to take challenge or taking risk because they are living in "green house" environment. Everything here are well prepared for the children. Too bad when they growth up, will be another typical Singaporean.

one thing that singapore is lacking??? Soul....everywhere you look and you see machine-like technocrats whose sole goal and pursuit in life is wealth and comfort. Where is the spirit to break out of the mould and experiment with something new? Something different? Where's the passion? It seems exhibited only by a small percentage of the people here and even then, to a limited extend i.e. only as far as the $$ goes.

Civil liberty by far.

Its really a dictatorship, dressed up as a democratic country. Just try being an opposition candidate in the elections, and u know what I mean.

singapore is good in a lot of senses but they lack in their attitude towards neighbouring country especially malaysia which they often think they are superior to this country and singapore have lots of social problems. I read an article from a singapore and it stated that anyone below 16 cannot have abortion without concern of parents, which means they can if they are 16 and above? wow...that's quite early huh...anyway been to singapore lots of times, that why i think this way btu singapore is really a ncie place though

Well you have listed most of the basic things we need. Whether it is a good thing or bad thing depends on what angle you look at it. It is good to be prosperity but the bad thing is tt once prosperity is good the cost of living will also go up. So everything there is two side to it. It depends on how you look at it tt's all

well I think we're lacking in terms of prosperity, albeit for certain groups only..

families like mine, who's parents are both civil servants just don't earn enough money..

and also not enough is done about the prescence of many kids in the house..

singapore wants to have an increase in the population, but not enough is being done to encourage it... my parents have 4 kids,
but the normal income is still hardly enough to support us..
in terms of prosperity, we should base it on family numbers since Singapore wants to work against an ageing population, salaries and all should be considered for the number of ppl in the family..

this way many people will prosper from the lower income grps since we tend to have more kids... this might at least help us catch up with the businessmen/women and executives in Singapore who're filthy rich and are making life difficult for people like me..

__________

also for the topic on civil liberty, I think Singapore has one of the best ways of governing... no system is perfect and in our modern context, citizens love to make it hard for politicians and leaders to lead the country, hence the need for certain controlling measures...

In singapore, we have what I call a mixture of communism and democracy and occasionally we go abit off-balance..

communism's idea was to have equal this for evryone, but their downfall was weak leadership and no rights..

democracy is all about giving opportunity's and many rights, but is abit to loose and has less control of its people..

we all can look at the US.. they have plenty of people in dead-end jobs and ot enjoying themselves because they're too liberated and
are too commercialized..

for the former soviet union, it was obvious there was TOO much control to the point where nobody liked the system and people lived in fear..

in singapore, I say we take the best of both worlds but its still difficult to achieve perfect balance..

We have resonable control of the people but YET many are given the freedom to explore thier limits.. Hence, why you see so many entrepeuners everywhere..

we also are generally a one-party state.. I say this is good bacause it helps with consistency.... Too many changes and reforms are bad and tiring on the citizens

so, Kudos to the PAP for your efforts on governing Singapore

VOTE PAP!! woohoo I can vote at next election!!
