which ever brand you decide, it must be a convertible car seat. this is so you dont have to keep buying new car sears.

your kid would have to be facing backwards til hes at least 1 and/or 20 lbs. after which, you can make him face forward. which he should remain in a seat until he's 40lbs.

I really love the Britax Marathon. You would have to install it rear facing until your daughter is one year AND twenty pounds, but the good thing about the Marathon is that you can leave it rear facing for longer (which is safer). I left my daughter rear facing until she was about 20 months. I only flipped it around because she really wanted to face front at that point.

Another option, although probably not the best choice financially at this point, is the Graco Safe Ride seats, which can be used up to thirty pounds. It is an infant carrier type seat.

A great website to look at for any car seat information is: www.thecarseatlady.com

My son is 7 months and we are looking at those ones from Evenflo that grow with your child--it's the best investment. If you get those ones that go from rear facing baby seat to rear facing toddler seat/front facing toddler seat, and then a booster seat, that is a great investment. Check out Evenflo's site.

I ot one of those Eddie Bauer ones that is a 3 in 1...So I won't have to buy another one. It was rear facing until my child was big enough to turn around...He really likes it.
