It was a man named Paul Revere. He was one of the generals and he was like a secret spy for the Americans on the British or something. He was also a silver/Blacksmith and got captured but was freed then the Revolutionary war began.

A lookout for the early American terrorists (the british then were the army representing the govt) I believe that was Paul Reveere.

It was said by the English man Colin Welland (the writer of the film "Chariots of Fire") after he won an Oscar for his screenplay. He said this as a part of his acceptance speech.

(He wasn't entirely wrong, a little later English film "Ghandi" swept the board.)
