based on what I think you are asking
you have to know the numerical value of each letter grade
typically with a 4 point scale, you have:
A=4
B=3
C=2
D=1
if that is the case in this instance, and all the classes had the same weight (often, some classes will have more weight than others being given more "credit hours" so you have to weight the values by credit hour when calculating the gpa -Grade Point Average) then the averaging is simple
(3+4+2+3+4)/4=16/5=3.2
GPA=3.2

Assuming all of Jon's classes were of equal weight (i.e., all the same number of credit hours), then Jon's GPA is 3.2.
(3 + 4 + 2 + 3 + 4) / 5 = 3.2

well it depends on the ciriculum but if u let A=1 B=2 C=3 D=4
his average mark is
(2+1+3+2+1)/5= 1.8 ~ 2
