Does each higher level actually give you something extra that the lower level doesnt have? Or is it just to stroke your ego and make you feel good?

You need to ask yourself if you would prefer dirty water or pure clean 100% water. Ofcourse you don't want the dirty water. Similarly people like to get ahead in life. They don't like to see others go far and they be left behind. But there are some others who want to be where they had been all their life. Different people have different views. Many saints gain happiness going a step close to the supreme. Like that people yearn to achieve a step higher in material life

higher level persons are qualified to appear as featured users. didnt you notice the yahoo answers homepage. they have their featured questions and answers appear there sometimes.
but higher level also makes us feel good.
