Whoa!, all these answers are a bit harsh, are they not? Whilst I imagine you do want/ need paid, there is still no cause to be rude, or may end up with no job at all.
Contact your Payroll department or your HR department or your HOD. Be polite, and simply explain that you were expecting paid today, or on whatever date, but you were not.
They will either know offhand, or can explain it. Here are some common reasons:
Some Comapnies pay in lieu time as per your emp. contract
Most pay days are a Friday, or the 28th of the month.
Did you give your bank details
Is this your first pay cheque
Is this your last pay check, but you have not returned you uniform
There may be a very simple reason, so don't dive in with the threats of leaving, or the written warnings. It may come back in your face.

If you live in the UK and are being paid properly (ie not under the table) then you will be in a position to take action. fiirst of all, ask your boss what has happened. Then, if you are still not paid, go to a local Law Centre or Citizen's Advice Bureau who will be able to take action on your behalf or point you in the right direction. It is illegal not to pay someone for their work.
In future, join a trade union so that you have access to legal advice sooner rather than later. Joining now won't solve the problem as all TUs expect you to join without an on-going problem and be in membership for about 13 weeks. If you're not sure what Trade Union to join, check out the TUC website.

Depends on the context - what weren't you paid for, how long has it been, do you still work for the company, are they aware of the problem?
If you still work there, you need to talk to your boss, and Accounts, and Human Resources first. Then if they can't give you a date by which it will be resolved, or they miss the date they gave, you should talk to ACAS.
In fact it wouldn't do any harm to get some info from ACAS in the meantime anyway.

s.13 Employment Rights Act 1996. Unless you have previously given written consent to your employer to make deductions from your wages then your employer is not only not legally entitled to make such deduction (100% of your wages) but is also in breach of your contract of employment. You can, now demand your employer pays that which is owed to you or inform your employer that you will issue proceedings against him at an Employment Tribunal.

Depends if you are self employed or work for someone..If you are self employed, I would send a few collection letters. If you haven't been paid yet, have a lawyer do it. You can also file a mechanic/materialmen's lein through the courts.
If you work for someone else, contact the labor board.

Were you working? If you have worked and put in the hours, call the Dept. of Labor in your area.
Your place of employment has to pay you if you have put in the hours, unless they are garnishing your wages for some reason.

Go speak to them and ask them why not. If you've got a contract with them and they still don't pay sue them.
