Why do people go into restrooms and go to the bathroom and then not wash your hands?

I see this all the time especially at restaurants. It is disgusting. You mean to tell me your going to go to the bathroom, grab that dirty door handle and then go eat?

Call me OCD but I like being clean. I ALWAYS Wash my hands whether I'm at home or in a restaurant. And when I leave the restroom at the restaurant I make sure I have that paper towel with me to grab that handle.

I guess that's why I never get sick. It's August and I haven't had a cold yet this year (knock wood).

When you go to the bathroom, do you wash your hands when you are done and why or why not?

I feel you man! I am female and 21, and I ALWAYS wash my hands after using the restroom, especially public restrooms. Why do I do this? Because my mama taught me good hygiene habits at an early age and because I like to be clean!

It really is gross how many people don't wash hands after using the toilet. Men are especially bad for it. I mean, at least us ladies have toilet paper between our hand and our vagina when we use the potty. Men go in and hold their thingie, pee, and then come out without washing their hands. That's just nasty. How do I know this? I caught my bf doing it one time and have never let him live it down!

I hear ya! I get strange looks in public restrooms cause i get my paper towel before i wash my hands then proceed to turn off the taps with the towel after i dry them , then i grab the door handle with p.t. then if there is no garbage dispenser right there there's a good chance the towel is going on the floor. It may not be nice to do but they'll get the hint eventually. And just for the record I hate going in a public washroom and seeing those hand dryers -yuck. Yea maybe I'm anal but I'm not getting pee germs on my hands.

some people may be OCD's but there are people who tend to forget about how important it is to wash hands specially before eating. There are people who doesn't seem to care whether their hands are dirty or not. Some people are too preoccupied with other stuffs aside from the thought of handwashing. Well, it is a sad thing but it is for real. Good for you that you always wash your hands. Yes it is a good reason why you are not getting sick. Handwashing eliminates a lot of germs/bacteria?dirt that we get from so many things...but this can only be best if you do handwashing properly.

Also I have to laugh at the people who quickly run their hands under the water, what's the point, all you did was give your germs a bath and a drink of water.

I volunteered at a local hospital and they showed how quick germs spread. They applied a powder ( represent germs) to surfaces, chairs, etc.
You couldn't see the powder unless you had a black light.
Before we left they turned on the black lights and you could see the powder all over our hands. Then they had us wash our hands the proper way. And again turned the black lights on to show how effective hand washing can be.

Of course I always wash my hands. And call me OCD too, I always make sure I have the papertowel with me to grab the handle. Not washing your hands is just GROSS. I don't get sick either.

Reason: I am not a pig!!!!
Why I think some people don't: Because they are lazy and have bad hygene habits. I wish at least they would refuse to shake hands with the rest of us clean people!!

Because they dont know the meaning of the word, "hygiene" people can be so dirty sometimes, if only they knew how much bacteria was really on their hands, then they would wash their hands. Gross!
