I'm replacing a light fixture in my bathroom, and the instructions with the new fixture are pretty bad. I'm trying to figure out how to ground it. The strap with the new fixture has a green screw marked ground,but the fixture also has a ground wire. Can I just ignore the strap and attach the ground wires together?

Don't ignore the strap. You can wrap the ground wire from the fixture around the ground screw on the strap leaving enough free to still attach to the other ground wire.

HOW DARE you criticize the instructions... that made me laugh as I have complained about the instructions that comes with things NOWADAYS and stated that they were in Chinese and then translated into English by a Chinese. At any rate.. I do not know what you mean by "the strap".. I have done this many times. The wires coming from the house will have a green wire(I think it is green.. at any rate.. it is the GROUND wire) You attach that to the ground that is on the light fixture... that is all there is to it.. If there is NO place to attach it to the light fixture(as is sometimes the case), I attach the ground wire to the screw in the box that is in the wall and onto which the light fixture is going to go.

Yes, ignore it, it's just another option to hook up a ground, depending on what you have. You only need one ground. The strap would be connected to a metal bracket with metal conduit (over kill in certain places depending on local code). I hope you are running this light through a GFCI. Just remember, Green is Ground, Black on Brass, and White on Whilver-I mean Silver.
