He's probably a nutcase and wants the attention. Or, as others suggest, he could be attempting to escape Thai justice. But, it's hard to believe they would just release him if he had committed a serious offense in Thailand.
And, he's probably innocent since he has already been questioned and investigated.
But, we shall see, I suppose.

I hate to declare this, yet I even have continuously concept that the father and mom had a good purchase to do with the dying of JonBenet...consistent with probability John Karr became into in on it alongside with one or the two father and mom, yet i do no longer have confidence he became into in this on my own.

I do think something is wrong. He seems so cold and unfeeling yet he states how much he loves her. I can't imagine they would drug him after his confession. He had knowledge that was not realeased to the public that he shared with undercover investigators online.
Unfortunately he does seem like a prime candidate. Single men go to Bangkok for one reason to bang cock. It was a sex crime. It was someone that she knew.
Once he is back in the states they should be able to DNA testing to find out. I cried this morning over this story. It had been forgotten for so long and it was such a horrible situation for all.

I think he is playing the fall man for a friend in Colorado. He was busted out of country and needed a way back into our judicial system. He was contacting an undisclosed person in Colorado. That is your person. Just a hunch.

It's a con job. He didn't do it. How can one be in 2 states at the same time.
He just wants to get out of that prison in Tailand. Research how bad they are.
Once in the states, he can say what he wants, deny, appeal.....and eventually get off by reason of insanity

A life sentence in a U.S. prison beats whatever he faced in Thailand. Nope. This doesn't add up.
