I'm heading out for a night on the beer. Any sure fire way of preventing a hangover? I've tried the "drink a pint of milk" before, doesn't work!!!! Help is appreciated.

First off make sure you have a good meal before you go out drinking. Drink a few beers with your buddies until you feel a good buzz on. Keep keen to this and here's the trick. Once you begin to feel 'good' ride out that feeling by ordering alcohol-free beers and pour into a mug so as to not get any poking from the fellas and once you feel your buzz wear off drink 2-3 glasses of ice water and go back to pounding your beers. Before you go to bed after drinking another six pack, make sure to eat bread and drink tons of water - as much as you can take - then when you wake up take a brisk walk outside and breathe in that fresh air, as fresh air and time are the only thing to cure a hang over, but if you have followed the steps from the night before you should not have much of a hang over. Also NEVER mix up your boozes with beer, or wine, or anything, stick to the same drink all night that should help as well. By the way, can I come out drinking with you and the fellas?!!!!! bye bye

It's best to drink on a full stomach. That is, have a full steak and veggies type of dinner before you go out. Stay away from dessert or anything sweet. For every beer you drink, drink at least 1/2 glass of water in between and you will have a better morning. Having said that, my friend, everything in moderation is best. If you get very drunk, you will not remember how much fun you had the night before, so what is the point in "going out to have fun then?" Unless, you are having such a bad time when you go out... that is a whole different issue... Also, if you drink too much you might end up hooking up with someone you regret ( an ugly *** woman, a transexual (unless that is your thing), a loser). And, please, find a sober designated driver in advance!

Simple. I don't get hangovers that hurt, but I do feel groggy the next day unless I got to sleep in.

1) drink vodka or beer, stay away from red wine, brandy, dark rum, etc.

2) ask for a glass of water at the end of the night, just before leaving.

3) drink a BIG glass of water before going to bed

4) keep a bottle of water beside your bed, for nocturnal sips

That's it. Hangovers are caused by 1) dehydration, 2) interference with your sleep patterns, and 3) ingredients in some drinks, like red wine. Think WATER and SLEEP and you should be fine.

Drink a glass of water with every beer or in btwn each round. When you get home drink two more glasses of water and take advil, not tylenol or aspirin. Eating before you sleep helps too. You can also drink gatorade too. Hangovers are mostly caused by dehydration so if you keep hydrated you should be ok.

I used to feel hung over just drinking a couple drinks. But this works for me every time. Water and Gatorade.

When I know I'm going out, I'll make sure I drink plenty of caffeine free fluids that day. And I drink water while I'm getting ready to go out. When I get home I drink a gatorade before bed. And depending on how much I've had I may take Advil or something like that. If I get up in the middle of the night I will drink more gatorade or water. And when I get up in the morning I start the day off with water or gatorade. And I munch on sliced cheese and crackers. ( I dunno why it works but it does ) I swear it works.

make sure you have some thing decent to eat before you go out and that you drink at least a pint of water. A light breakfast and plenty of water the following day. Loads of people have said drinking water the day after the night before works, because it does!!!!!!

Ha! There's only one "SUREFIRE" way to avoid a hangover--don't drink!

However, there are a few tips that MAY help avoid a hangover:

1) eat pizza before drinking
2) for each alcoholic drink, also drink one glass of ice water.
3) do a lot of dancing while drinking--you may look stupid, but it sweats out some of the booze.
4) avoid darker drinks--stick to pale ale OR white wine OR vodka.

Cheers!

Stay hydrated! Drink a glass of water in between each beer. Also, try to keep some food in your stomach to slow the absorbtion of the alchohol. When you get home, take some Tylenol or Advil with a big glass of water before going to bed. Of course, not getting too hammered will help too!!

Drink clear spirits like Vodka or Gin, they are supposed to be the least hangover inciting. Red wine is meant to be worst. Drink a lot of water before you sleep, as it reduces dehydration (a main culprit in hangovers). You could also drink less, but sod that!

In Dr Bill Gottlieb's Alternative Cures he recommends a teaspoonful of Bifido Factor by Natren taken in water before going to bed.
Taking a B-50 vitamin and some Milk Thistle (standardized) before going out will help protect your liver.
Drink responsibly. Alcohol can be a deadly poison in high doses.
