They can be purchased at any health food store or grocery store.
Realistically speaking, no labor inducing technique will work unless your baby is ready to come out. That means your baby has to be ripe for the picking.

That said, there is no harm in trying some good old fashioned techniques to help jump start labor. I can tell you for a fact I did try some of these, some with varying success rates. Here is a list of some of the more common natural labor inducers. Keep in mind, you should never EVER try to induce your labor before 38 weeks pregnant.

Remind yourself that every moment your baby spends in the "oven" is a moment they need to develop and mature fully. If you try to induce labor too early and your due date is off by a week, you run the risk of encouraging your baby to come too early.

Here are some of the more popular labor inducers tried by women:

Walking -While walking won't necessarily start labor, it can encourage labor to progress if you've started early contractions. Walking is often also good for encouraging a head down baby to settle into your pelvis. This will help dilate and efface your cervix.

Sex - This is my favorite natural method of labor induction during pregnancy. Men's semen contains prostaglandins, which are necessary to help ripen your cervix. Your cervix must thin and dilate for you to have your baby. I think this is a beneficial form of natural induction that also helps relieve stress for both mom and daddy.

Evening Primrose Oil - EPO contains the precursors to prostaglandins, substances your body needs to produce prostaglandins to help ripen your cervix. Some midwives rub evening primrose oil directly on the cervix during the last weeks of pregnancy to help the cervix thin and dilate. Keep in mind that placing anything in the vagina during pregnancy may increase your risk of infection and is not recommended.

Castor Oil - I do not recommend you try castor oil, though you will likely read much about it. Castor oil is nothing more than a laxative. It stimulates your bowels, which may irritate your uterus causing contractions. If you are not already dilated and effaced somewhat however, chances are you will just end up sitting on the toilet for hours after taking castor oil.

Spicy foods - These have the same effect as castor oil, but are a more gentle way of stimulating your bowels. You may get serious heartburn however, from eating spicy foods so try them at your own risk!

Blue and Black Cohosh -These are herbal remedies that when used together may help induce labor or help strengthen contractions. You should never use them however without consulting a qualified herbal or health care professional. There are some studies suggesting blue cohosh may damage your baby's heart or lead to uncontrollable hemorrhaging in the mother. A better bet is to stay away from these potentially dangerous herbs.

Aromatherapy -Certain essential oils including clary sage may help promote or encourage labor contractions in women. Try adding a few drops to your shower.

Acupuncture and Massage - There are many trigger points in the body that can help inspire labor. Seek the help of a qualified masseuse or acupuncturist during pregnancy for help with these.
Many women go into labor just by relaxing. Sometimes pent up stress and anxiety are all that are necessary to prevent labor. You may find a relaxing massage is all you need to go into labor simply because it allows your body to relax enough to encourage delivery! I hope these suggestions help Good Luck and Congratulations!

Castor oil is not a good idea.. It will give you the runs and upset your stomach. Any herbal remedy should be checked with your doctor. If the doc says its okay to drink raspberry tea then you can find it at a health food store..depending on where you live. Try Sun Harvest, Wild Oats, Central Market, or Whole Foods.
Good Luck

Raspberry leaf tea is ok, but if you want to go into labour, and you are past 38 weeks, goto a health store and get blue cohash. You take a dropper full, and you will most likely be in labour within 24 hours. NOt hermful to you or baby, it is the herbal labour inducor. It causes the uterus to contract. Only do if you have a normal pregnancy, do not use any measures if you are high risk.

Try getting them at a health food store,(be sure its the real thing)-not just artificial-but the castor oil thing isn't safe unless youv'e talked to your doctor about it.it can really upset your stomach and not speed the process at all. So do be careful. Good Luck.

DON'T do either one of these or any other home remedy you find on the Internet to bring your labor on. I speak from words of experience and been there done that. I had my son 4 years ago and was so ready for him to come out (It was the middle of August in Houston TX). I tried everything I could find and would up making myself incredibly sick to my stomach and had a major yeast infection. Walk, have sex get on a 4 wheeler, do something physical but don't take ANYTHING or you will end up in a far worse state then just wanting to have the baby sooner.

You can get both at the grocery store.

I wouldn't reccommend the castor oil. Both my sisters tried it and all it did was upset their stomach very badly.

You can try walking, sucking your thumb, or rubbing evening primrose and clary sage oil on your hands.

You can get the evening primrose oil and clary sage oil at a healthfood or natural foods store.

you can get them at any GNC, or vitamin store, however I STRONGLY recommend that you DO NOT use the castor oil..1.It is AWFUL, 2. It will give you a MEAN case of the trots, and may not even help you go into labor..Just might make you sick.I tried it with my son, and NOTHING...He was born 2 weeks later...
