Why are the wolfs doing this?

It could be a number of things: Death in the pack, lost pack member, hunting party, etc.

Unless you are familiar with this particular pack of wolves (and they are familiar with you), you should not attempt to get near them. It's too late in the season for an alpha female to give birth, so that is out.

Sometimes wolves howl to recement their pack connections and ties, sometimes they sing for (seemingly) no reason at all.

Enjoy it. You're truly blessed to be able to hear them.

They might have lost one of the members from their pack. They are doing that so the lost one can find them. Or, it could be that one is injured, but i figure they just as soon eat the injured. But i am pretty sure its that someone is lost. The coyotes at my house howl when the train goes by. Is there a train near you? That could be it too.

Are they in a cage? Maybe they are hot, or don't have enough water, or hate it in the cage.

Are they in the wild? Maybe they are preparing for the mating season and trying to either attract a mate or trying to scare off other males.
