Ok dude, first of all, here's the line you're referring to...
"When, in the course of human events, ...to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."
There's the word God, mentioned once in the Declaration of Independence. But it's not the Christian God persey, it refers to the laws of nature and nature's God.
Second, the Declaration of Independence is not a basis for law, it's just a letter that says "We're Out, Pe@ce."

Jefferson did not believe in the Christian God persay. He is the man that removed any references to Jesus' divinity from the bible but kept the rest because there are good moral lessons. He, along with many of the other founding fathers, was a Deist - someone that believes that god is in everything.

ummm... yeah... i've been saying this a bunch, but America was founded on the beliefs of the Christian Bible. So of course God appears in the Declaration of Independence. And in the pledge. And on our money. Liberals need to just deal with it already. (And if they try and make a lawsuit against something religious, and the courts decide on it, the system is willfully violating the Seperation of Church and State Clause. Betcha didn't know that one.)

And again, it doesn't say God, it says "their Creator". Christians may feel like this is splitting hairs, because you believe strongly in the biblical God and feel that any reference to a "creator" is obviously a reference to Jehovah/Yahweh/Allah; but the word choice was deliberate. It allowed Deist and Christian founders to interpret it how they saw fit. Jefferson himself was clearly not a Christian; check out his letters to friends and family.

FYI - God, in the christian sense (or any religious sense) is not in the DoI. The only mention of GOD is the term "Nature's God" which was meant to be generic to promote freedom of all religions.
